Default Pricing Question

Is there any kind of trend on what dealers are selling the C6's for? I've been looking for a MR 3LT, and have only been quoted MSRP. I see that many of you had bought at $4k off MSRP, and some above MSRP. I'm trying prepare in case I find exactly what I want and want to negotiate on the spot! Thanks!

Being in the Bay Area myself, I have seen some dealers sticking to their guns about MSRP, but it is getting to be fewer & fewer of them & you can do better out here. You can get at least 3k off in this area, and more if you feel like ordering out of state.

I have decided to order somewhat locally, and have settled for 3k off from the big Chevy dealer in Stockton. After I already agreed to order from them, the Walnut Creek Chevy dealer said they would give 3k off as well. There may be even better deals out here, but I had waited about as long as I could & pulled the trigger on 3K off to get one locally in Northern California. It is still on order, and they did not request any deposit, so there is the risk this order could fall through...we have no signed agreement right now. Worst case scenerio is I am delayed on my car search, but I won't be out any money.

BTW...I started off at the "Corvette Leader" in San Jose, and took their quote of 2k off as a starting point with other dealers. I then filled out a request at CarsDirect.com, and when dealers started calling me & e-mailing me I told them they need to beat the other offers I got. I didn't drive around from place to place, as that can waste too much time. I have a friend that also went to the Bay Area Corvette Leader in San Jose, and he also found they did not have the best prices in this area.

Some dealers, who really don't care to sell many Vettes, will stick to MSRP, but you can do much better. $4 - 5k off sticker is a good deal, depending on model and options. For comparison, I got a VERY good deal at GM employee pricing, $7.5k off sticker for a 3LT Z51 coupe, but that is unusual. If your local dealers won't give you at least $4k off, order from Kerbeck or Les Stanford or another forum dealer and have it dropped shipped to a local dealer for you to pick up. Good luck.

Easier said than done. Many dealers won't do a courtesy delivery because of the liability. If the car shows up damaged or gets damaged on their lot, it will be their responsibility to repair. GM only pays $100-$200 to the delivering dealer and usually it is not worth it.

There are plenty of Internet dealers who will give you a great deal and deliver it right to your door. Krebeck, Fichtner and at least 4 or 5 others specialize in doing excatly that.

Two words: Forum Dealer!

They will probably be your best bet for getting exactly what you want and getting it at a good price. They can arrange Courtesy Delivery to a dealer near you. I would try Fichter first. You could even make arrangements to have it delivered at the dealer, fly there and drive it home. By the time you got home it would be all broken in.

One of the reasons I didn't try to get the cheapest price I could by ordering sight-unseen from someone on the East Coast. I do not pay a dime to the dealer out here I ordered from until I go down & pick up the car (and inspect it & drive it first).

I got the dealer to take $3300 off MSRP on an order as I wanted the NCM delivery option. You can always do better by buying from dealer stock.

Good luck

Out of your own pocket? We were told by a GM rep that GM only pays a couple hundred. If you paid from your own pocket that is a different story and the dealer would be dumb not to.

I'm in yay area and i'm paying $500 over invoice and ordered to my specs. Could have had invoice but the $500 over makes them feel a little more satisfied. That "waste of time driving around" saved me another $3k below MSRP. Better price than GMID.

Just remember. You don't have to buy the car. They HAVE to sell it.

If that were an accurate statement, then most of the forum dealers would be out of business….and I don’t see that happening any time soon! As for; “not being worth it”, there are several thousand members on this forum who have saved a bundle by taking a courtesy delivery and would take exception with your statement!

I think that either some dealer is feeding you a line or you are a dealer trying to feed us a line!

Just my two cents worth!

My bay area local dealership orginally said that they would not accept courtesy delivery because it would make their sales person mad then about a month later, they started to accept courtesy for a $500 fee which was fine with me since I saved over $5500 over MSRP. I would go ahead and order from a forum dealer and have it drop to a local dealership near you. Even with the $500 courtsey charge, you would still come out ahead.

John L. Sullivan in Roseville near Sacramento gave either 1.9% for 72months @ MSRP or $4k off MSRP and you get your own financing.

I ordered my MR 3LT with employee pricing from a non forum dealer and saved big time (approx $7400 off) and I am paying $200 for a courtesy delivery to Phoenix . Can't go wrong with courtesy delivery if you are saving cash on the deal .
