Well I guess GM doesn't need the business. Recently sold my C4 after 20 years of ownership. Planned on replacing it with a new C6. Went to my local dealer (Palm Automotive in Punta Gorda Fla). I'm 60 years old, well dressed and well educated (not that that should matter). Saw a beauty on the lot. Sales person said that if I wanted to test drive a C6 I'd have to find a used one. Lost a sure sale. Next day put a deposit on a new Superformance Cobra replica ($68,000).
I am not sure if I would change my mind about buying a 60k car just because of a bad encounter with a sales person. But hey, whatever works for you. Congrats on the cobra, which is a bad *** car indeed.

No offense but all that tells me is that you likely didn't REALLY want a C6 (which is a real Corvette btw) anyway.
The sales people are technically wrong for refusing test drives yes but I have to be honest with ya, I myself (and many others that I know) will NOT buy a test driven/demo'd car so I can also sympathize with their reluctance to give out drives to every person that comes in for one and then decides to go buy a fake Cobra (I do like them btw and have considered them) anyway LOL.
Would you buy one if the mileage shows that it had been test driven? The dealers thar will let you test drive are few and far between. The car speaks for its self.
Funny thing... when i bought my c6, I didnt even think to test drive until after I put the deposit down. then, I asked to drive one, and I drove the manager's... this was at kerbeck... I guess they reserve 1 car for demos.. which sounds fair... of course, not everyone has the quantity of c6s that kerbeck has....
GM has nothing to do with whether or not dealers offer test drives of Corvettes. Some dealers will let you, some won't.
Are you one of those guys that would complain about 40 or 50 miles on the odometer of a $65K new car you just bought? Well, some of the vette owners here do that, then also complain about no test drive. You can't have it both ways.
Evidently you didn't want a C6 badly enough to hunt for a dealer that would let you test drive one.
I'm 22, they handed me the keys and said enjoy, I did pull up in an 01 vette. But still...They treated me with respect at Roger Dean Chevrolet. So I bought it right there. Bill Branch tried to take advantage of me. I may be 22 but i'm not completely stupid.
I walked in dressed like a bum and they threw the FOB @ me. They asked me which one would I like to drive. I took a silver C6 vert. Next week they called me and told me they had a DSOM Z06 waiting for me. I felt obligated to buy the Z06...
It's been a fun ride,so far.

The dealer that I bought my C6 from offered to let me drive a new C6 but said I could only put 2 miles on it. Luckily, they had 2 used ones and they let me drive both of those to my heart's content. I myself do not blame any dealer for not allowing test drives on new C6's. JMHO.

I glad you found the car you wanted. I must ask though, did you test drive the Cobra?
When I purchased my C5, I went to a local dealer in Beaumont, Texas and was not alllowed a test drive. I went to Houston and was offered a test drive without me even asking. Sometimes you have to shop around.
