I have a good friend whose 2005 C6 has over 15k miles. When he took the vehicle in to check out some issues under the vehicle he found that the front drivers side EMT was worn down to the belts! Right passenger tire showed similar wear but still had a lot of tread left.
Turns out the dealership explained they had a few of the newer C6's in with minor front alignment work needed.
This is not a noticeable problem until the mileage creeps up in the 15k - 20 k range.
Unfortunately the only way to see this problem is in the air.

Have any of you all experienced this yet?
I don't understand why you need the car on a lift to see that tire problem? Probably another good reason to change your own oil because you have have seen the problem long before the belts were showing.......
Me, and my buddy "99theHardway" both purchased '05 C6's within a couple of weeks of one another, and we both had identical pulling to the left problem. My car had only 1,932 miles on it when I picked it up, and his had I think, 22,000 miles on it. Scott, my buddy asked around about this problem, and most other C6 owners he talked to did not get this problem corrected by thier dealership, each owner had to go to an outside shop and pay out of their own pocket to get this problem fixed ! My '05 is at the alignment shop today getting a 4-wheel alignment done, as I don't want any wear issues with my tires, and also, a car that is pulling to one side or the other is using more gas than it should ! Plus, when I get it to the track, I want it going perfectly straight ! Also, I know my car had never been curbed, as it has the Comp. Gray wheels, and the owner, a fellow CF member, maintained this car meticulously ! (Thank's Scotty B. AKA ICEBOURG ) just my actual experience with this subject !

I thought everyone looked at their tire tread at least once a week. And, if you run your hand across it while you're looking at it you can feel feathering before it becomes obvious from looking at it.
This issue gets to the heart of the matter:: and that is:
The only way for both tires on a single axle to wear at the same rate is for the wheels to be aligned to the same specification and to be carrying the same amount of weight.
A perfectly aligned car with its corner weighting off can wear the tires as described in the leadin post.
Would lowering the car, void any chance of getting an alignment under warrenty?
About 95% of the chances. Your dealer would have to be very mod friendly and really want your business to do it.
When you lower your car the alignment changes a bit. That gives the dealer/GM a legitimate out.
In the ideal world, the alignment guy would know which way your lowering would change the alignment and if your alignment showed problems other than that, they would take care of it. Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world.
OK, picked up my car after getting 4 wheel alignment, and here is what the tech told/showed me. The car was actually " In Spec. " according to the GM specifications for alignment, however, according to their ( the shops ) Laser based equipment, it was not. They even printed the spec. sheet, the one from GM, and what they actually set the car to. This is the second corvette this shop, ( Mark Yont's Tire Service, Augusta, Ga. ) aligned for me, and the charge for the service on my C6 was only $90. I consider that a bargain ! So, had I taken my 'Vette to a GM dealer, they would have put it on their equipment, it would have shown as being "Within Spec." and it's my opinion, they would have just taken the car off the rack, and given it back to me with no alignment being done !
