Hey man....a lot of the fun in buying a new Corvette is making these decisions.....order what you like...its your car that you are paying for with your hard earned money...ask for an opinion on here and you'll get a million....order what you like and don't worry about what the "fourm" likes.
My coupe is being built this week. I ordered only the base wheels.
Should I swap for WCC chrome or leave as base wheel?
Any pictures to show the difference would be great.
Thanks
If you go to the FAQ portion of this forum, there is a section on colors, look under Monterey Red and there's bound to be some pictures of both types of wheels. Or you can search this forum for chrome wheels, etc and find more.
In any event, I think you should take delivery of your car and don't judge the wheels until you've had the car a few months. You'll find you may be the exception, not the rule, with the base wheels. I have polished on my MR coupe and like them alot. Base wheels look good too. If you like the chrome look, you can't go wrong either. A matter of preference. Some shine looks better, though, IMO.
Forum posters have said chrome is great, chrome is too blingy, polished is great, polished is too milky, etc. etc.
Take your time...and change them if you don't like them
We have a MR coupe also and have the same delimma. Try hard to see the car in person with the wheels you think you might want. I just saw a MR with chrome wheels and for my taste was not what I want. They looked to much like plastic chrome to me. Really good polished would be my choice but can't yet find what I want.
Main point. Don't rely on pictures if you can avoid it. BTW The silver wheels are growing on me.
I'll let him post himself, but if I didn't get the wheels I got, I would have chose the same ones burtonbl103 has on his MS car. They are absolutely beautiful wheels.
I ordered my car with the base wheels. Yesterday I had my WCC Chrome OEM exchange wheels installed. All I can say is for about $800 these are the wheels you want on a MR C6. I'll have some photo's up in a day or two.
I was thinking about having my OEM wheels re-powder coated the same color as the 50th AE's but WCC came along with their C5/C6 Birthday Bash pricing ($595) for their OEM chrome wheels and I had to jump on that.
....here's a different tack...consider the charcoal grey wheels...i picked this combo out when all i had to look at was the little color chips and a small image on the computer...took a risk and i get a lot of compliments as both the monterrey red and the charcoal wheels are less common but i think they look great together...just an opinion...
The Chrome wheels look almost Blue on the MR and the plain silver look like they belong on a lesser car to me but its yourself that will need to be happy. Go with your gut. I went polished.
