Default front end dragging

Just received my first corvette and I love it. it is a 06 3LT with the Z51 package. I have a problem which I am sure is common where backing out of driveway front end drags regardless of what angle I take it. Looked around internet and found there are wheels available to help with this but the dealer told me it would void the warranty if I put these on. Has anyone else experienced this and what was done?

Per the manual, its made to drag on the ground on driveways, etc. It bothered me at first, but after 6 months I learned to ignore it.

DON'T DO THE WHEELS. THOSE BLACK STRUTS UNDERNEATH ARE THE RADIATOR FRAME SUPPORT. IF THE 3 PLASTIC PIECES GET CHEWED UP, THEY'RE ABOUT $35-50 TO REPLACE ALL THREE, MUCH CHEAPER THAN THE FRAME!!!

It's just something you learn to live with. Imagine what it's like when the car is lowered...I don't have to imagine that cause mine is lowered.

Try backing into your driveway. Mine does not rub if I back it in and drive it forward out. If I drive in forward or back out, it will rub. Give it a try.

I've had 4 C5s and one C6 and every one of them rubbed on my driveway. No big deal if it is just rubbing the air dam as it is designed to take that kind of damage. If it gets really raggedy looking it is easy to replace. However, if you are hitting the hard struts on the front (unlikely unless you have a REALLY steep driveway) that is a different problem and potentially serious in the C6. In the C5s the struts are very strong and will support the weight of the car, so you can attach the wheels to them and not worry. On the C6 those struts are much weaker and will not support the car. No one has yet come up with "wheels" for the C6 because of that. You have to be really careful not to run the C6 struts up onto anything, like parking lot barriers as it is pricey to replace them.

Make sure it's just your air dam that's rubbing by looking to see if there are paint scrapes under the front fascia. If it's only the air dam, my suggestion is to do the best you can to minimize scraping and then don't worry about it. As I understand, the dam is easy to replace and relatively inexpensive if and when it becomes worn enough that you need to replace it.

This works for me too. You can turn the wheel and 'swing' the front end sideways to bring it across the low pont (where it would drag). By letting the front end cross a little sideways, it doesn't drag.

As I back out of the driveway, the steering wheel is turned sharply approaching the street and no dragging...

Mine too drags but only when backing up. Will just wait to see what happens. Will also try double eagle's suggestion to see if it makes a difference.

Don't do the wheels. If put under the right (or wrong) load they could bend the frame. A new air dam once and awhile is cheap.

This also works for me, now if I can only get my wife to do the same when she drives the car!

thanks to those who responded for the info. I am trying different approaches to ease the drag. Now if I can just get my daughter to park her car farther over on the driveway.

Lager's "Air damn" probably is on springs....

However, anyone needing a '05-'06 C6 Front Deflector can get one from Fred Bean's for $25.66. (And there is no spring.)

The left and right valances are similarly unsprung, @ ~ $10.00 each.

Try cutting the wheel ealry so the car is at a 45 degree angle to the road at the point it hits. That will hopefully stop it from hitting. Here in Florida, we have some pretty deep "gutters" along the street edges that will cause the airdam to bottom unless you angle on and off.

I have done extensive research on this. I have a newer house -- built 01. I have the rolled curb to driveway. Check these out http://www.shercomindustries.com/pro...curbramps.html

I was going to buy them, but after test driving an 05 and taking it up on an angle slowly I was ok, that was a z51, so I hope my stock suspension is ok

My C5 dragged in my driveway, but the C6 is fine. I agree with the backing up, if that works great, otherwise just deal with it. It should be fine as long as you go slow. Shouldn't crack.
