Default Door separating from hinge

Took the NEW c-6 in for routine service.

Asked to check out noise when closing driver door. Figure it needed lube.

The door hinge was separating from the door and has pulled through the material. I now need a new door.

Any others having this issue?

That's a new one on me. I don't think I've ever seen a reference to this before.

You now have the honor of coining a new acronym....DHS...Detaching Hinge Syndrome?

Stan, I never get tired of looking at the picture. It is one of the reasons I ordered Machine Silver with the red interior (but a convertible).

Pics would be good. Corvette doors are generally steel with a outer fiberglass door skin bonded to the steel frame. The hinges are bolted to the steel frame so they can be replaced or repaired. Delaminated?! Tore a hole in the door skin? Something is messed up right here.

Same thing is happening to me everytime I open my drivers door. I hear like this metal on metal grinding. Everytime the dealer would lube it up it would go away water would have the same effect as well and make it go away.

Thank you! I still love this color combination and would order it again in a second. Next one might be a vert though...coupe is really good, but I do miss that total top down feeling.

Ruh Roh, I better check mine. It's been making a new noise in the last 2 months.

pics on the way.
1. open door, see if it drops
2. check strike plate for notch caused by dropping door.
3. open door, look behind lower hinge, between hinge outside, along the right angle bend. Hinge base has a steel sandwich, bolted thru the glass. Crack occurs to the outside of this. It should be visible.
If you pull out the speaker, you can feel the door structure bending.
4. A solution before the cracking occurs is to install a strap to keep pressure off of hinge.
