Default Wheel lock location

Anybody figure out a good place to keep the wheel lock key in a C6 vert?

Not really a "good" location, but i keep my key in a canvas bag (the one my C5 cargo net came in) in one of the trunk storage compartments. The bag also contains my hockey pucks for lifting, and 5 spare lug nuts.

Someone COULD break into the trunk, go into the compartment, find the bag, find the key, and steal my wheels. I could also be hit by a meteor.

A wheel thief can sometimes hammer a 12 point socket onto the lock lug and unscrew it that way, so keeping the key in the trunk is not that much of a risk. For that reason, some folks think wheel locks are a waste of time, I consider them to be effective against amateurs who are in a hurry.

Keep mine in rear compartment also. Figure not much risk really. If they go that far, why not just steal the whole car.

With all the "super bling" wheels out there now, I don't think we have much to worry about. Corvette rims aren't much good for anything else anyway.

It's the tires that are valuable.

The wheels/tires were stolen off my BRAND NEW 2001 and the wheel lock was in one of those compartments. They drilled the seal around my door handle (C5 of course) and popped the trunk an got the wheel lock key out and neatly removed my lug nuts and off they went!

I just keep mine at home because with the run flats I figure I can always come home first to get it! haha, I'm sure there are a 100 scenerios where that won't quite work as planned though.

No one ever wants to walk out to this.....so don't keep the wheel lock in the compartments in the trunk!

Hmmm..

Maybe i WILL be hit by a meteor. (see my post above)

I want to keep the key in the car, there must be a place to hide it that would be tough to find. And maybe store a key that does NOT fit someplace that's EASY to find!

Is that Germantown in that photo? Looks just like a spot on Observation that I have been by a hundred times.

No, it is just off South Van Dorn Street in Alexandria. Right up the hill from Select Auto Imports if you know where that is.
