Went to start car had to use manual releases everything was shut down.Tried jumping it did not work. Has anyone had this happen. I was thinking about replacing with an optima gel battery has anyone done this?
This happened to me a few weeks ago. I had the car towed to the dealer who determine that the battery was defective and replaced it with a new one.
I would suggest having the dealer check your car to find the cause of the problem as it may or may not be the battery.
I had a Chevy mini-van that sometimes would not jump start with a dead battery. Sometimes it would start but die when the jumper cables were removed. The dead battery was always the problem. I would disconnect the battery in the car then jump it and see what happens.

When a battery is completely dead it is necessary to leave the jumper cables on with the good car running for awhile. Maybe 10 minuets.

Agree, who knows, you might have a power elf sneaking juice and a new batt will only mask the problem...
