I am 95% sure the shop that installed my radar detector somehow disabled the voice recongnition on the NAV. The NAV doesn't understand a single command (and it used to, before the radar detector was installed)...
it's acting like the mic is off..
its Sunday and the shop is closed, so I was going to check myself, but I have no idea what to look for.
Any tips on what to do or look for, and where to look?

The mic is in the driver's side A pillar, you can see the little mic grille there. I don't know why the shop would have been working in that area though. If they didn't do the normal thing and steal power for the detector from the mirror, they'd likely have run the wires down the passenger side A pillar instead of monkeying with the driver's side. If this was a hidden detector install with a remote display, they might have been poking around in that area I suppose.
aye what you say...was just a guess because the NAV voice recong is NOT working in any way. It does not "understand" a single command I give it. And is used to.
What may have I done if its not the radar detector. You can see in these pics where the detector is installed. Not close to the A-pillar, but I thought there may be a connection to the two events simply because of the timing.
I also have a hand signal for the detector at my right side (for hand operations)
Maybe the installer turned it off or it turns off if the battery is disconnected. Did you check to see if it is turned off? I have mine turned off all the time.
I can't for the life of me find a way to "turn on / turn off" the mic as you suggest, or find any setting that controls it.
I press the talk button, hear the beep, it turns off the music (if its on, seems to work as it should) and then I speak. A few seconds later it says the system doesn't understand my command.
