nav not recognize voice commands

nav not recognize voice commands
Anyones nav works fine but doesnt recognize any valid voice commands. Alway response something like command not recognized. I am using the commands in the book. I even had the salesman try.

You may have a problem. My Nav recognizes about every fifth command from me using my normal southern drawl. 
BUT it does recognize that it has received a command, it just misunderstands the command. Many times I get the response...."showing italian resturant icons"...or something similiar. 
It seems that everything I say sounds like Italian resturants or golf courses!!

Ah atleast you guys have NAV's that respond even if it does say DONT BOTHER ME RIGHT NOW CAUSE IM BUSY. mine just resonds the same everytime. And its not resopnding because it heard me say something it is timing out. When it times out it says it didnt recongnize that command. It does that even I say nothing. And also, no I have not upgraded the 2.0 map dvd. still using the one that came with car. Bought car 2 sundays ago.

I get nav listening errors like that all the time. I say one of my favorite commands like "change to turn list" or "cancel destination" and the stupid thing responds with something random like "system is now displaying the whorehouse icons". That's when I start cursing at her and things get worse from there!
