Remember, GM has a rule about not producing cars which are affected by a gas guzzler tax. The potential of a V12 is one thing, it's inherent weight is another.

In addition, the truly high power engine output would be reserved for special editions of the car as the ZR1 and Z06 are to the C4 and C5 respectively.

If the current C5 coupe's weight is dropped by 100lbs with a simultaneous power increase to 445hp (and the requisite tire upgrade) its performance would exceed that of any current production supercar.
