I have spent the last 2 hours reading through the threads related to MP3 CD's and I havn't found anyone here that is experiencing the same problem as me.
At first, everything seems okay -- the first track starts to play. I goto browse one of the folders or tracks and the player will freeze for up to 5 minutes. It will just sit there and none of the controls will work. After the 5 minutes appx, the player will do the command you pressed 5 minutes prior.. It took me 10 minutes just to get my CD out of the player.
It seems like the problem happens when I browse the CD, especially with folders.
I just bought my new C6 last Sunday. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Do you have any /() characters or others like that in the album or song names? (might also apply to artist names, but not sure)
If your on a Mac, a method that works for me...
Use iTunes 6.0.4
Use regular 700MB CDRs (haven't tried the 800s)
Use only MP3 format files (I've used 192 and 160 bit rate successfully)
Build a playlist with less than 700MB
Select all songs and Convert ID Tags to version 1.0 ("Advanced" menu)
Remove any "/" "(" or ")" characters in album names or song names
Sort playlist by Album by clicking on "Album" in the column header
Click the "Burn Disc" icon in the upper right corner
Enjoy...
NAV or Bose? If you have Bose, were you ever able to scroll through the folders using the double arrow buttons? If you have folders, it should be no problem.
With MusicMatch, when you burn your MP3 CD, you transfer into the burner play lists. A playlist can be one artist's album, or any mix of songs. When you play the CD on Bose, each playlist you burned shows up as a folder. Folder names are limited to 8 characters on the Bose I believe.

I have the Navigation. I have folders but when I go into a folder the Mp3's don't play and the entire system just freezes. I'll go back and make sure the special characters are removed... that might be screwing everything up?
I will also try Nero... hopefully that will do the trick.
I recommend buying an iPod... much greater capacity than CD's and easier to navigate thru folders/ playlist... anywhere from 2 to 4 to 60 gigs of storage! I have the nav system with the flip down screen to access the CD slot... Sort of a hassle and very difficult to navigate while driving... Bought a FM transmitter/ charger for in car use. -(url)http://www.dlodirect.com/Products/TP...68899175388515

This is just frustrating. I am not sure how everyone else got their cars to play Mp3 cd's correctly, but I think I have exhausted every method and I still encounter problems.
Here's where I currently am --
MP3 cds created with IPOD, ID3 V1.0, sorted by album
All files/folders names truncated to 8 chars and I can view them all from the display
Each folder contains no more than 6 tracks
A total of 7-8 folders (all single level)
The first folder always plays without error
The rest of the folders are unreliable... Sometimes the files will play without any problems. Other times, the files will play for a little while and then start skipping or just stop. And other times, the track will not play at all and it will pause for a while before skipping to the next track. It seems that the lower the folder or track is (farther down), the more likely an error will happen.
Now, when those exact same MP3 files are put into the first directory, they play without any problems. I am currently in the mindset that 80 minutes of a normal burned audio cd is better than trying to play Mp3 cds. This really pisses me off me since it is SUPPOSED to play mp3's!
The 3 "different" cds you tried, are they the same brand/batch??? Blank CDs vary in quality, you may have got a hold of a bad batch.
Rampage ...
This might be it ... I have none of the problems you are having ... I think my CDs are all Imation?? I have to look - there are some postings on here related to CD brands - I think Memorex (now owned by Imation) were mentioned as good in the NAV too
Rampage - one more thing ... if you want, PM or email me ... maybe I can have you SEND me one of the MP3 CDs you are having problems with ... I can try it in my vette and also recreate the same CD using my own system and media - but first please try some other media and see how that works ... but if you get stuck feel free to em me and lets see what we can do ....
