Touch-Up Paint - Machine Silver
Paint Scratch included a sample paint swatch and I dabbed the Paint Scratch color on and the #67 on the swatch.
The #67 matched perfectly. The Paint Scratch is darker.
Guess I'll work a bit more on making that #67 match better on my scratch.
My findings exactly! After a good amount of testing / sampling of both the PAINT SCRATCH MACHINE SILVER and the GM MACHINE SILVER (Code 67), I found the Paint Scratch to be visably darker. Additionally, when you apply the Paint Scratch Clear Coat layer it darkens even more.
Products I used for testing:
Several small pieces of fiberglass ( was lucky enough to find)
Paint Scratch Primer
Paint Scratch Basecoat (touch-up)
Paint Scratch Clearcoat
GM Touch-Up (code 67)
Griots Garage Touch-Up Paint Applicators (excellent product, highly recommended!)
Langka Paint Sealant
Optimum Compound
Some interesting findings from test samples:
PS Primer - Isn't really necessary. With two sample pieces of fiberglass, one I applied touch-up paint directly and the other I used the PS Primer underneath. The application w/out using the Primer adhered just as well...probably better in fact. Furthermore, after drying, the sample with the primed base was easier to scratch off with my finger nail. The direct application touch up was not.
PS Clear Coat - Darkened the already darker Machine Silver even more.
GM Touch-Up (67) - mixed easier, upon shaking bottle...thus allowing a more even application. The GM Touch-Up is a thinner consistancy (than PS), so several light layers is necessary.
Langka Paint Sealant - worked nicely after paint dried. Didn't change the base color touch up paint at all. After Langka Paint Sealant, I polished samples with Optimum Compound

My pleasure. Two great products from Griots Garage:
Touch-Up Paint Applicators - Makes touch-up very easy, allowing great control to just fill in the chip area. Comes in two sizes, Red Applicator (larger size) and Black Applicator (small size)
Spot Sanding Tool - Allows you to clean the chip area, prior to touch-up.

it looks really close on a piece of metal next to the car and it isn’t dry yet.
Still wet but very close for touch up work.
