Default Paint problem/question...about a crack...

So I maintain my c6 very well....she stays in my garage...and no one ever opens the doors in the garage except on my side (I always make the passenger get out in the driveway then back her in)

Ok so here is the problem...near the door handle the paint has cracked a few inches on the passenger side....is this a warranty related item or am i completely F'd?

you can tell its a crack, and not cause by a door hitting it...there is no damage to the car what-so-ever just a crack in the paint....is this typical?

any advice would be appreciated

Auto paint is somewhat flexible and doesn't generally crack...unless the body panel has been heavily flexed or the substrate is also cracked. Unless the service shop concludes you have somehow inflicted this damage, they will probably rule it to be covered by the warranty. Coverage is more likely if you have only had the car a short time.

The decision will rest with the service people that examine the damage; only one way to know the answer...take it in and let them check it.

Default paint

MY 05 is less than a year old with 2900 miles on it and I had a paint crack in the bumper cover that I had to kneel down to see...Well,I saw it there and promptly got it fixed under the 3/36 warranty.

I have a similar problem. I took my car in to have the driver’s door adjusted (2300 miles), it does not close easily, never did, I actually have to slam it shut. The door latch is showing wear to the point that it has metal burrs. Here is the kicker, when the Chevy dealer body shop inspected the door they discovered two vertical cracks about two inches from the edge right in line with the where the door latches. The “body technician” states, “it probably was from the door not lining up and striking the latch causing stress fractures in the paint” and by the way, “GM will not cover it”. He also mentioned it would be best not mess with it, the clear coat, paint blending, yadda, yadda, yadda….I will re-address when I take it in to have the door aligned in three weeks, yes three weeks, to get it in the shop. Customer service at its finest, God bless GM.
