In the C5, the car moved the seat to the remembered position when you inserted the ignition key. The C6 doesn't use a key, so you have to push a button.
Yes, the Automatic transmission car should recognize the FOB, but the Manual 6 speed won't. Don't ask me why, but if you find out, let me know. I was a little disapointed when I set my features up, and found out that my seat would not move forward. I would think that even with the manula tranny, when you close the door, it should still recognize FOB 1 or FOB 2, and adjust accordingly.
If you have an auto, it will work. However, you need to set it up to do so in the options section on the DIC. You can also set it up to so that the seat automatically goes to the exit postition as well. It's explained in the owners manual.
interesting.... Overall i was very dissapointed when i realized my seat would not automatically adjust... I even figured that it would recognise me if i started pressing unlock on the fob instead of just walking up to the car... but that didnt work either... im still waiting for someone who has a 6spd to chime in with "it works" haha

It doesn't 'work' like the C5, but you'll get used to it in a few weeks. It's only takes one extra step and one extra second.
Is the car supposto recognize that i have key fob 1 in my pocket and automatically go to my preset seating for driver 1 when i get in?
My father's C5 did this, but in my C6 i always have to push button 1 on the door panel...
I just figured it would do that...
Any comments?
Yes, one other comment. I didn't have a C5, but dozens here who had one have said that your statement is wrong. Your father's C5 didn't do that when he got in it. It did that when he put the key in the ignition.
It will work when you start the engine. Only problem is that if you have an "exit" position, you probably can't reach the clutch to start the car. So this feature works better with an auto tranny.
"If your vehicle has the Auto Memory Recall feature and it is turned on in the Driver Information Center (DIC), the seat, mirrors and telescopic steering column position will automatically adjust to their programmed positions when the engine is started."
For what it's worth, I have an A6 and I've programmed my driving position on FOB1 to make me comfortable. I also have the exit position for FOB1 programmed to a comfortable exit position and height.
When I open the door after shutting down, the seat goes to that exit position and makes exit fairly easy.
The exit position is held until the next time I get back in the car (making re-entry easy also). When I start the engine, the seat automatically goes back into the FOB1 driving position.
After shutdown, when I open the door, the seat returns to the exit position once again.
i noticed that my car recognizes the key fob 2 when i use it but not key fob 1, so i set all of my memory settings to driver 2 and i use the key fob 2. This was i dont have to press the memory button for it to detect my settings. I have a 6-speed manual. Try this, and see if it works.

Which settings are you talking about? On the manual tranny cars, the driving position for the seats & steering wheel is not supposed to take effect unless you press the memory button. My manual tranny worked this way.
The easy exit seat position will work automatically when you turn off the engine & open the door or when you unlock the vehicle with the fob. This should work with both auto tranny cars and manual tranny cars.

Auto guys don't have to worry about a clutch. They have to be able to put their foot on the brake pedal to start the car. Safety issue with the clutch & driving position. Thank the lawyers.
