There is an air filter in the intake for the A/C system, you know... the one above the battery on (in) the firewall. I cannot find a replacement at an auto parts store. Maybe I just don't know what to look for. Has anyone found one..... without going to the dealer?
Are you ready: $38.00 including tax. Believe me they don't get very dirty in a vette. In a surburban with kids Oh yea.Anyway that's what they tell me at the dealer. We really don't need to change them very often.

When I changed mine at 12K miles, it looked like it had been driven in a constant sand storm in Saudi Arabia for 12 mos. It had dirt, bugs, and tons of pollen...filthy doesnt begin to describe how terrible mine looked.
But it has to be the easiest cabin filter to change...unlike my wife's Acura which requires removing the glove compartment.
I don't mean to start a flame war here, but even if we are talking about $40 for the filter I plan on replacing mine every 15K. Keep in mind this is the filter that all of the air coming into the cabin goes through... Penny wise and pound foolish not to replace these filters when dirty.
Wait... I don't mind getting one at the dealer.... It is just much easier to get to an advance auto. It's a just filter.... They happen to carry A/C delco filters.... I can order one on line it but it is $69.. You guys say the dealer price is $38-$39.. I'll get one when they fit my new top sometime this week. Mine was pretty dirty at 6.5K. I blew it out with air for now.
I havn't really looked closely at mine, but most A/C filters are a type of HEPA filter. These filters are not like normal air filters, they usually have multiple layers of material weaved for filtration, so that big particles are caught at the very beginning and the finer filtration is continious throughout the filter. This will result in the top of the filter looking very dirty but in fact the filter is not totally used up (if it looks like moisture has gotten in and it looks "caked" that's another story). This is why they are more expensive. They should last way longer than the normal air cleaner filters used for the intake. I plan on taking a look at mine, and probably shaking off what I can and use it until I actually notice a smell in the cabin.
After reading this post I checked mine and it looks good. The car is thirteen months old and has 8000 miles on it. I am sure it depends on where it is driven.
