Someone please tell me how I get this thing out of the car so I can put on the new one. It is driving me crazy and I hhave been pulling, tugging, and twisting for the past hour.
Any help would be appreciated
Also just got the Pioneer Z1 installed and it so far is awesome. I am very impressed.
I am not sure about the Automatic shifter, but the MN6 has a little torx screw on the left hand side, once you pull down the shift boot, you will see it. Hope this helps.
Yeah, I have head one if in a stick and know exactly what you are talking about. I can't find a screw like that in the auto handle, I called the local chevy dealer he said pull and twist. Which does not seem to work.
Got the **** from Down South Vettes it is very nice looking. I even got the local dealer to fax me the page on removing the **** and it says it just pulls off but it may take some force. Man they are no kidding I have been pulling on this thing like a crazy man and have not budged it.

Please let me know what you find out. I had much more complicated instructions from an engineer at the factory - the entire console must come apart and there are clips to be loosened from the other side. I also ordered a gorgeous console and auto shift **** from DS Vettes. They were kind enough to take the **** back as I did not want to disassemble the car to get to the **** replacement!
The black plastic piece sticking out the bottom of the replacement hints that there is no simple pulling it up to take it off. Looks like a clip and also some pushing and turning to release or install.
Would hate to break the plastic off the bottom and then have a shifter that won't shift!

So is it just a leather-covered version of the original, or is it a different ****? I'm looking for a nicer model.
Wait, wait, wait.....It comes of very easily.First you twist the black plastic collar on the base of the **** about a qtr turn then pull it down about a half inch then the **** pulls right off from the top. Twist, push down pull off. This is for the A6 only, the A4 in the 05 comes off like any GM F or Y body and many other for the last 20 years. These ***** ar not interchangable either. See if you can get it off now if not I might be able to get you some actual pics of the twist mech so you can see how it works.
