Corvette Order
Mr. Fowler,
First of all, "THANKS" for ordering a Corvette. However, the Bowling Green
Assembly Plant can't assist you. Your order will come to us from the
Chevrolet Marketing Division, not your dealer. The Chevrolet Marketing
Division will send the order to us when it is time for your dealer's
Corvette allocation. It doesn't matter when you ordered the car, it will
only be built when the allocation is granted. Some people wait months. It
is your dealer's responsibility to let you know your order status. Just to
let you know, it will first be assigned a "targeted build week (TBW)".
That means it can be built early that Monday morning or at the end-of-shift
on Friday afternoon. The TBW is an estimate week. When your dealer sees
the order has reached an event/status code of 3800, that means the car has
been produced (but NOT shipped even though the description my say shipped
in his system). Once your order reaches an event/status code of 4200, it
is physically on a truck heading toward your dealer.
I hope this information helps.
Sincerely,
Lynn Herron

The inventory manager can check at least once per week on the status of the order and can inform you of any constraints. Typically, except for the Z06, allocation is no longer an issue.
My order in late 2004 took four weeks to be accepted, because I had 4 different items on constraint. Then it was six weeks to delivery. The management at my local dealership was very helpful in keeping me informed, but I never asked more than once a week.
Good luck.
