Outside temperature sensor / display **UPDATE**

This sensor reads the outside air temperature and
helps to maintain the temperature inside the vehicle.
Any cover on the front of the vehicle could give a false
reading in the temperature.
3-28
If the outside temperature goes up, the displayed
temperature will not change until:
• The vehicle’s speed is above 10 mph (16 km/h) for
five minutes.
• The vehicle’s speed is above 32 mph (52 km/h) for
two and a half minutes.
These delays prevent false readings. If the temperature
goes down, the outside temperature will be shown
when you start the vehicle. If it has been turned off for
less than three hours, the temperature will be recalled
from the previous vehicle operation.
Sounds to me like it shouldn't ever take more than 5-6 minutes for it to update IF IT'S WORKING PROPERLY.

In my '88 Vette, for example, it would read the outside temp instantly, but if you stopped at a light on a 75 deg day, the reading would climb to over 100 in just 1 or 2 minutes. Then it would go back down after you drove to the next light, where it would start climbing again.
My Jag has only a small delay, and most of the above problem is cured, but not all. Driving in traffic still gives a higher reading than actual due to heat from the road surface.
The C6 is logical to me. If the outside temp is cooler than the reading, there is no delay. If the sensed temp is higher, it doesn't jump there until you have either moved a short time at reasonable speed or a longer time at slower speed. It makes perfect sense.
In addition, when I first get into the car, I know what the outside temp is by having just been outside. I don't need no stinking indicator to tell me.
