I've been enjoying reading about the C6 very much here. Seems like a good group on this forum.
Currently I'm reading as much as I can when I have time. I have 3 vehicles (truck/car/bike) and considered selling all 3 of them and paying for a new C6 because I have the fever I am going to wait however...
My current weekend car is a S2000 and I think I need to really master the car before stepping up in power. I can drive fairly well but I think I need to do a few track days in it with some instruction before I decide to swap it for something with 160 additional horses pushing it.
I'm an avid motorcyclist (sportbikes), or I should say bike nut who also has an addiction to automobiles. I wish I wasn't a gearhead sometimes because I'd save so much damn $ But you only live once
You guys getting your cars and posting threads with pics.....um let's just say you are like crack dealers to me right now. I look like this when opening up every thread
I'm a Ducati-holic and love my C6. You do not need to worry about mastering this car, it has a masterful flow of power; it's not a nuclear bomb. Oh yeah:

The C6 is the best car I've ever owned. I am still excited to drive it after 18 mos & 21,700 mi. Last car was a Lincoln MkVIII & the Bride has an Acura RL. She had a Formula Firebird with a pretty stiff ride The Vette out paces the Bird in every way.
Also a bike guy. !st I drove was a 59 Triumph Bonnyville. My first was a 64 Honda 305 Super Hawk. Just how far date back does that go? My current bike is a Honda VTX 1800 & it's schweeeet.
All that said - I get more enjoyment from the Vette. It's my dailyu driver, not a gargage Queen
I had a lot of loyalty and love for a 2000 Camaro SS vert that I had before purchasing my C6. The SS was great and I bought it new, but after 5 minutes of driving the C6 home from the dealership, the SS was just a memory. Buy a C6 and you will never look back. You will forget about that Honda in about 5 minutes.
If you want to do a driving school with Corvettes (C5s but also C5 Z06s available) you should consider going to Bondurant in Phoenix. It's a great way to become familiar with the driving dynamics of the cars. Although, I agree becoming more familiar with the S2000 first is a good start.

I can feel where you're coming from. I've owned many a sportbike (F2, F4, R1), and driven many a sport car though never owned anything substantial. Driven the s2000, several porsches, etc.
So let me just answer your question -*from experience* - YES YOU SHOULD GET THE VETTE.
I had an accident on my R1 so the wife banned any more bikes (it was pretty bad, I am lucky to walk with three fractured vertebra - and that was only at 35mph).
So let me just say that the new vette is the cure i needed. you will not be sorry.
Finally, the Vette drives super nice - sure there is a lot of power and I've gotten it a bit loose - but it recovers super easy. It's no different than having to respect something like an R1 (actually I think it's easier to manage than the R1).

Welcome But a word about your plan to master the Honda before tackling the Vette - it won't work. While the basics of high speed driving are absolutes, the power and torque of the Vette demands waaaaay different techniques and driving philosophies. Some great racers can drive anything, but most of us need to get good in one kind of vehicle. While the S2000 and Vette are both RWD front engine, the similarity stops there. It will take you a long time to unlearn techniques you have learned in a high rev, low torque machine vs. torque before horsepower car like the Vette, at least, on the track/autoX course. And that doesn't even take size and weight into account. Have fun in the Honda, but know it isn't an "entry level" Vette in any way, shape or form.

Mannys was being conservative...
You'll forget the Honda when you sit in the Vette.
