Default Velocity Yellow bug problems?

My C6 has the Velocity Yellow finish. As the weather warmed this Spring I noticed that gnats and other small insects would alight on the car, which seemed to attract them. This may sound funny (and yes, ha ha, the car is always kept clean), but is a hassle when washing or waxing the car. I can spray them off with water but they keep coming back between rinses, and during waxing, and when the car is left outside. I don't know if the paint or the wax is reflecting much UV which would attract insects. I noticed that in several instances the Velocity Yellow car was the only color that the bugs would land on; no other cars in other colors were attracting these bugs. Does any other Velocity Yellow owner notice this insect attraction. Does anyone have any solutions to repelling these pests?

Bugs love yellow and you're not going to be able to convince them otherwise.

Therefore...Rejex.

This is a new one on me. Does "OFF" come in a giant economy size? Maybe Rejex will help.

Yep my VY is constantly attracting bugs. I am guessing my VY looks like a giant flower to them. Not enough of an issue to create worry or make me dislike my VY though.

i've been noticing the same thing, but would you really notice bugs on a darker color like black? it may just be the contrast.

I’ve had the same problem. Rather surprised how quick they were landing. It's a challenge drying without smearing the varmints. Not sure how to solve the situation. I experience the same with my truck. It's yellow too.

Bug check in +1.

It's a little annoying, but I still like my color.

Thanks guys. It looks like this is common to our yellows (and white). I do like the color and would not change it, so it looks like I'll need to get on a first name basis with the bugs.

Do you wax your car with carnauba wax? They may be attracted to that. Try Rejex.

jumped over from c4 forum. Interesting thread. I have the same problem
w/my yellow 92. Never really gave it much thought about the color
attracting bugs, but I will live with it, because YELLOW rules.

Had the same problem with my MY '00 convertible. Didn't have this problem with the other color Corvettes I've owned...not even the Yellow '74.

Here's a curveball to throw in....I have a DSOM and have the same problem. It has 3 coats of Rejex on it, and after every washing, little gnats are on it within minutes.

It's the color yellow. It attracts insects. No getting around it. My exterminator told me that bugs love the yellow hues.

I've been hearing this complaint from customers for over 10 years! I don't know if the bugs are really attracted to yellow or if they just show better on the yellow!
