Default Intermittent Radio Problem??????????

Tried using advanced search but couldn't find my original thread? Found everything but under Intermittent Radio Problems though.

Problem; Start Car, Turn on Radio.......No Sound. Repeat 2-3 Times. Repeat again only this time Shift from Park to Neutral, Turn on Radio and it works.

This has happened more than once and I want it fixed while in Warranty. My Dealer says GM knows about this issue but doest have a fix.

Anybody have this problem and got it fixed? How?

Thank you,

C64Lucky

I had that problem maybe three times in 18 months so i am not going to worry about it. I also notice when radio does not work you also don't hear the "Beep" sounds on the gauge buttons.

Last year my radio turned off for no reason while playing, never did it again.

Last week my 5th preset station won't stay on. Now my 6 CD changer won't play past the 5th song on regular CDs but will play all the songs on a MP3.

Called a dealer and they said it will have to be re-programmed, about a 2 hour job.

Not sure what I'm going to do, also I'll probably let them look at my painted top for delamination...crap, I hate to have to bring it to them.

Yes, there have been several threads on the subject. The radio in my silver coupe did that about 3-4 times, beginning a couple of months after I got it. The dealer reprogrammed the radio, but that solution didn't last long. They finally had to replace the radio (non-Nav). Haven't had any more trouble the last 9-10 months.

I couldn't find previous threads. I looked under Radio, Radio Problems, Intermittent Radio Problems. I got alot of Threads but couldn't find much on this issue. Maybe I need to input differently?

Thanks,

You can d/l install the the firmware yourself.
i did and everything works great now.

here's the link...
you have to fish through for the software to download. it may be around page 18

What are you talking about? Where in this thread did anyone say anything about an MP3 problem or a problem with static in the FM radio?

This thread is about a silent radio. The user starts the car and they don't get the seatbelt warning ding and cannot get sound from the radio when they turn it on. The radio display works, but no sound.

The search function doesn't seem to be working properly because I just spent about 20 minutes looking for a post I made last July when mine went out, and could not find it.

After about the 4th time my radio sound went out, I took it to the dealer and he "reprogrammed" the radio. It was okay for about a month, but then it happened again.

This time he replaced the radio. If it happens again, drive to the dealer's and LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING so they can pull the codes. They'll probably have to replace the radio to fix the problem permanently. This problem also happened to StanNH and a few others.

Here are two threads where there's just brief mention of this problem. It's all I could find.

Same here. The dealer will need the serial number off the original radio and can then order a replacement. I had mine done over a year ago and the new one has been fine, although it will take a few seconds to turn on every once in while.
