Can someone explain this?
Most of the time when my wife and I (we both have our fobs) go somewhere and one of us (passenger) waits in the car, everthing like the radio, door locks, windows etc. works with the ignition in the acc. mode. A couple of times, nothing works as soon as the driver closes the door on exit, nothing works, the ignition is on acc, the text in the radio is still on and I can change stations but no sound, the doors are locked and the lock/unlock buttons and the windows don't work. This leaves the passenger locked in and unable get out or put the windows down. I know about the E release...

The 2005 owner's manual says to do this if a passenger stays in the car when you get out (page 2-19):
It does not say anything about what to do if one of the fobs stays in the car with the passenger, but I'd try this first to see what happens.
However, it sounds like the electrical system is doing what it's supposed to do when you remove the fob that was controlling everything.
If your passenger stays in the vehicle when you leave
with the keyless access transmitter, have the passenger
lock the vehicle after the doors are closed. This way the
alarm will not arm, and your passenger will not set it off.

Fob #1 always has priority. I carry both fobs with me. Fob #2 won't work as long as the car knows #1 is there. It's kind of a cycle thing. Both fobs must leave the car so then the computer can restart the cycle over again. Then which ever fob comes to the car first, that's the one that will work. So if fob #2 got to the car first and unlocks the car or starts the car, that's the one that will work even when #1 gets there after. Fob #1 will not work untill both leave the car again. Mabey your wife should try to unlock the car with her fob after you leave. But as far as I know, both must leave. Do I make any sence? I'm confused now.

Who's on first? I don't get horn beeps because I have them turned off. Too annoying....No horn beeps so the neighbors can sleep.

BTW, #1 Fob doesn't always take priority in my '05. I've carried both Fobs in my pocket before and sometimes it would recognize/accept #1, and sometimes it would defer to #2 - never knew which one it was going to recognize. I no longer carry both at the same time for fear of making my car schizophrenic.
Hmmmm, the driver has "old timers disease" and the car is schizophrenic. That could make for some interesting road trips.
I remember either reading the manual or hearing it on the Vette DVD.but if both Fob's are approaching the vehicle at roughly the same time I think 1 takes priority. I would imagine that once car has stated in the DIC Driver 2 (and has started the ignition) and then fob 1 comes strolling to get in the car then I believe it's too late for fob 1 to take priority

The owners manual says fob #1 always has priority. BUT, it's like the memory setting for the seats, most of the time everything moves to the settings after you start the car. Sometimes it dosen't. Then you have to press the appropriate button. Next time, leave the windows open.
