My C6 is steps ahead of my C5 in all areas! Right now I have 500 miles on my C6 and it doesn't feel as fast as I expected to, but with more miles I hope it wakes up! In my C5 A4, I can punch it at 55 and slightly break the tires loose with TC off....did it this morning on the way to work .
I never considered the regular C5 due to the fact that they were so much slower than my bone stock 2000 Camaro SS ( I just couldnt justify stepping down in power)
He should have said C6 Z51 Heated Seats HUD Wheel Locks Cup Holders
Yep, and a C5 Z06 is nothing but a regular C5 with some bolt ons and an LS1 with a minor cam/heads upgrade.
When you get down to it, thats all a C5 "Z06" is. Am FRC C5 with some bolt ons and a few comfort group deletions like passenger power seat, sport seats, tire pressure sensors, etc.
C5 Z06 = Afterthought to the C5 platform. GM modded the C5 with boltons. Heads/Cam, weight savings here and there. pretty much just tacked on items.
C6 Z06 = Purpose built from the beginning of the platform design. Integrated proprietary technologies seperate from the base C6.

Show us those pics of your C6 Z06.
I think SOMEONE needs to take a MYDOL. That time of the month, rustmetalliccarguy?
That wasn't aimed at you, it was meant for Z06 monster. I was razzing him like I always do whenever he starts up about Z51.
It gets his goat, and I see it got yours too.
Now don't get mad but...........
C5 Coupe/Vert and C5 Z06 have the same brakes.
C5 Z06 has red calipers and slightly more aggressive pads.
C5 Z06's weight savings are 95% in non-run flat tires and TI rear exhaust section
Suspension is almost identical to ‘00+ Z51.
C6 Z51 is nothing but a regular C6 with different transmission gearing and some bolt ons.
C5 Z06 is nothing but a regular C5 with different tranny gearing, mild heads/cam package and some bolt ons.

I currently have both. My C5 puts down 425 hp to the ground. It's a real blast to drive. My new Z is a great peice of engineering. I love both my cars and the way I plan it, the only way I'll give up either one is when they bury me.
It depends on how you plan to use your Corvette. If it's a daily driver, then all the great features add up and you get to enjoy them often. But if your Corvette is a weekend driver or the occasional track car, then the C5 is an excellent car.
But, without a doubt, the C6 is better car than the C5 in almost every way.
I test drove a lot of C5's (Z06s) before I ended up getting my C6.
I never considered the regular C5 due to the fact that they were so much slower than my bone stock 2000 Camaro SS ( I just couldnt justify stepping down in power).
However, I gave the C5 Z06's (02-04) a LOT of attention. I like them alot but I could not get over how much the interior looked like my SS's interior.
It was not until I sat in and looked at the C6 in detail that I realized how much nicer the car was than the C5. Performance wise (handling and power), the C6 Z51 is equal to the C5 Z06.
The way that I see it, the C6 is just one notch better in every category than the C5. Its not the the C5 is poor, just that the C6 is that much better.
Less HP and heavier, I'm sure your 2000 Camaro SS was a lot faster then a C5!
The C5 and the C6 are both great calls. I've had two C5's and two C6's and loved them all for differen reasons.
The flat our quickest call, was the 2003 coupe. This car just had a little something extra in it. Only mod was Corsa pace, and that really isn't anything special. I hit a 150 and better a few times and the car still had a lot left. It was the pearl white, in 03'. After a while, found myself liking other colors. Got a great deal, ZERO percent, and GMS.
Traded that car on a Silver vert, loved it till the C6 came out.
The C6s I like better, but over all not that much better. The stuff about the interior and ride, etc, I can't tell that much difference.

Uh huh , sure they were.
600 pounds heavier, less horsepower.
Test drove a 2003 zo6 for three days then test drove my 2005 c6 for 1day called the dealer and told him i'm not giving this one back fill out the papers!!

LS1 f-bodies make the same rear wheel horsepower as LS1 C5s. And the weight difference isn't 600lbs it's 200lbs. My 98 Formula dynoed 288rwhp bone stock, and weighed in at 3390lbs. My 98 Corvette dynoed 290rwhp bone stock, and weighs in at around 3200lbs.
my c5 was old enough that the c6 was $30,000 more.
not sure there's any way to justify that (as there was nothing "wrong" with my c5) but i just wanted the "latest greatest."
sometimes it's not about justifying expense. take the fact that i bought a 68 a few years ago for more than i'd have paid for many c5s. i just wanted it.
