Default Power top problem

I've seen a few posts on problems with the power top and did a search but couldn't find anything as too what causing the the problem.

Mine seems to get stuck occasionally & I have to use the emergency release to get it to open up......

Does anyone know what causes that and what if there is a TSB? I'm going to take it to the dealer but would like to provide the TSB # if possible.

Mine has been trouble free so far. I do not recall ever seeing a TSB issued for troubled tops even though I've read several threads about them getting stuck. Good luck and let us know what you learn. I figure that it is better to be forewarned, etc.

Not for certain but I believe that you have to pull the trunk partition on the right side in order to reset it. The power top mechanism is very sensitive to obstacles/obstructions.

I have heard that the power top is very sensitive about obstacles. I will be watching for the outcome with yours, as I am very interested.

Default Top Problem

Hello all, I remember mine got stuck it would not close the top and would not latch close. The Only way to close it. Was MANUAL. Problem solved when they replaced latch mechanism. Blown Fuse and relay would not allow the top to close. Hope this helps they can start there.

I had a problem with my top not going down but got it taken care of from a forum member. There is a sensor in the trunk right side for the trunk partition, that sensor has to be closed to have the top go down, I tape my closed, no more problems. If you do tape yours make sure your partition is up or you will ruin your top.

By stuck, if you mean it starts to go down and then stops? Are your windows retracting properly? I once had the top stop and had to manually lower and raise and the windows which seems to "reset" it and no trouble since.

My power top is functioning well, and I think it is a desirable option. Initially the tonneau cover would not latch down completely after retracting the cloth top, and would need a little pressure from my elbow. Now, up and down without drama.

I had some problems with my auto top stopping about 1/2 way through the process. First time two (it is important to replace both) microsensors in the top's ribbing needed replacing. The second time the motor which operates the hydraulic system was replaced. The unit was leaking fluid and would become empty rather quickly. These problems sent me to the dealer about 4 times. I was getting pretty annoyed. But since then the top has worked perfectly without a problem, and this has been for about 6 months. It is a great feature now that it works well. I put the top up and down quite often so it is very convenient. For example, today I was driving on US 101 and got into a fog bank. I pulled over to the side and pushed a button. In about 20 seconds the top was up and secure and I was on my way with no fuss.
