Default How does GM do it????

Sorry for the stupidity with this, but I just need to know.

http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/corvette_z06.asp
0-62=3.7 (505HP)

yet:
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/ferrari_f430.asp
is comparible to the C6, sort of. In 0-60 times.

Lambo:
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/murcielago.asp
=3.8 secs..

P GT
http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/carrera_gt.asp
=3.9 secs..

All with more HP, yet the Z06 is right there with them.
Maybe it is different in 1/4 mile times, but by how much.
And at 1/3 the price or more.

What is the scoop? Just trying to learn the difference between them all , and why they are the way they are.
Like Cubic inches for engine (427 Z06) yet the Ford GT is 330. ???
Why even with less HP and torque, the Z06 is still in thier rankings?

Thanks

Weight, gearing, tires, torque under the curve.

You can't argue with cubic inches and torque.

A few reasons.

First, The Z06 has more TQ than all of the cars that you mentioned except the Lambo. But the Lambo is AWD, which adds a significant amount of weight to the car. (as in it weighs 500 pounds more than the Z06)

Secondly, it has fairly well noted that the Z06 has been underrated from GM, so those published numbers aren't accurate.

Gearing also helps...ALOT, on both ends. Starting off strong and gas mileage.

TQ is really what gets you to 62 MPH, HP is what gets you to 200 MPH essentially.

Go to the C6 Z06 section we have many active threads discussing car and engine differences, we have car engineers participating in those discussions

HP to wt ratio. And as others have mentioned gears, etc.

Being able to take advantage of all that HP is another matter. Skill at launch, by the driver. Tires, clutch, etc. etc.
