Default C6 Seats

I've been shopping for quite some time and have looked at many different cars from foreign car makers. The other cars that I have looked at are great rides with lots of toys but they lack the visual appeal of the vette.

I really like the vette and I am finally at a point in my life where I can afford to buy a new one. I have one problem with the vette and that is the seats. I just don't like the side bolsters. I would prefer a seat back that is flatter than what is offered. I know that the bolsters are adjustable but even at the lowest level I feel like they are digging into my back and I don't think I could handle a long ride in this seat. I have checked into alternative seats and so far have not come up with anything promising.

I'd like to find out if there are modifications that can be made to the stock seats to make them more comfortable or if there is an aftermarket seat that does not loose the side impact airbags.

Any input would be appreciated.

Are you a bigger than average person or have some sort of back problem? I have no problems with all day comfort here.

I'm pretty particular when it comes to seating comfort and the C6's are very good.

You want uncomfortable? The fibreglass seats in a Modena 360 are like sitting in a crate...but they do hold you in place!

My C6 is the most comfortable of all our cars, including the two BMWs. And I have a lower back problem!
FWIW. . .

I agree I have two 5 inch rods holding my lower back together and the C6 is THE most comfortable car mile after mile that I have ever been in. IT still amazes me and is the first thing I tell people when I discuss the car with them. I am a fairly big boy at 6'4 250 lbs and it feels like it was custom made for me.

Also those bolsters if you fit inside of them and don't go over the sides are there to help keep you in place during turns. I cannot imagine driving my C6 without that added "containment."

Lost about 100 pounds and problem will be solved, and your heart will thank you to boot.

Hmm, interesting. I thought the seats on the C6 are a little too flat than I'd like. Was a little afraid that they won't hold me in place very well during aggressive driving.

One reason I liked the car was because of the comfortable seats. They're great (for me) for road trips.

Ok, Ok. Everybody really likes the seats and I don't. I had hoped to get some input on possibilities but it appears that the seats are so well accepted that nobody needs to modify them in any way. I'll go back to researching this on my own. I really hope that it doesn't come down to the seat as the deciding factor.

My friend has an 02? Z06 that he said we could take out for an extended ride in order for me to better evaluate the comfort level of the seats. Once I do that, perhaps I will feel better about the seats.

Lebowski, Put your running shoes on and lets go for a run and see who needs to loose weight. How many miles do you run every week for fitness.

Ok, I realize that comment reads more harsh than I intended it to be ... I guess I jumped to conclusions and figured you couldn't fit in the seat and decided that modifying the seat was the solution. Sadly, a lot of people in this country do think that way. If it's just personal preference, that's another story, my advice would be to do what you said and take a long ride in your buddy's vette and see if you get used to it. My guess is you'll eventually get used to the seats. Do keep in mind that just about all sports cars have bolstered seats, so you may not have many options if you have your heart set on a true sports car.

I don't run for fitness anymore. I did run track and cross country in high school (best mile a hair over 5:00, best 3.0 mile 17:23 on a grass cc course, but that was a long time ago ). I lift weights to stay in shape now.

I'm sorry for ya .. I asked the same question .. about the same response. However, one member was nice enough to pass on http://www.caravaggiocorvettes.com/

They look to have a pretty nice seat, however I'm not sure how you would "try before you buy".

I have also considered XLR seats, which SHOULD fit, but the XLR seats are heated & cooled, with speakers. Not sure how they would fit, or look.

If you find anything, PLEASE .. let me know.

Lebowski

Nuf said about 100lbs. Yeah, I took it a little personal but your response settled me down.

I have always wanted a Vette. What red blooded American person would not want one and I think they just keep getting better and better and the C6 is outstanding. When I look at a Vette I see a car that I would go out of my way to show off to friends and relatives. The other cars I have looked are very nice in their own ways but they just are not a Vette. I could go on and on on this subject.

I am finally at a point in my life where the Vette can happen and when I went out for three or four different test drives at the local dealership the one thing that I didn't like was the seat bolsters. It will take a much longer drive to really evaluate the seats and as soon as the weather clears up enough for my friend (he lives quite a distance down on a gravel road that is a mess right now) to take out his Vette I will have a chance to better evaluate this issue.

Clambros, I will wait to see how things work out and possibly may have to continue looking into seats. I hope the stock seats work out for me.
