Default Climate control spontaneously changing temp settings

Has anyone else noticed that every time they start up their car, the climate control can be a degree (sometimes two) off? For example, I parked mine last night with it set to the auto mode and temps L/R set at 72/72. Today when I start it up, it is showing 71/72 and I have to give it one click on the left to get my preferred 72/72 back. Some days it goes up a degree or two, some days it goes down, but it does change sometimes.

Anyone else notice this?

No, I have not had this problem. However, if you are turning the **** to the left that would lower the set point by one degree, not raise it. Maybe you're saying you give the left **** one click (which would be to the right - clockwise) to get back to 72/72.

I have always thought it was my right hand knuckles/fingers hitting the drivers side temp control **** when I shifted since it's always the drivers side temp setting that changes. The temp control **** needs stronger detents or needs to be relocated.

Me too... until I payed close attention. I noticed it yesterday so last night when I parked, I noted the 72/72 right before I shut it off. I didn't touch anything. This morning, I cranked it up without touching anything to the right of the start button, and it came up 71/72. I rotated the left **** one click to the right to get my 72/72 back. Knocking it can certainly change it, but that's not what is causing the 1-2 degree changes on mine.

Yes, I've also experienced the change; just seems to be random. The other thing that's happened several times while on a highway trip is I will pull out to pass someone, accelerate to 85 or so, and then drop back to my cruising speed of say 72. (if in a 65 zone) A few minutes later it feels warm in the car and I look down to find the climate control has turned off. I turn it back on and everything works fine. Not sure if the acceleration causes temporary excess heat which shuts a system down or what, but it is a nuisance. Happened several times during trips to Bloomington Gold and Road America last Summer.

Are you always using the same fob? Remember that climate control settings and radio system settings are saved AUTOMATICALLY per fob.

Set everything the way you want it, temp. radio, mirrors ect. Then press and hold the 1 button on your door until you hear it beep. Now when ever you press 1 your settings should all be as you originally set them.

That's how mine work on my 05 MN6 coupe.

I always use the same fob too, and I've done the pressing-the-1-button trick many times with it set to 72/72. The 1-2 degree change seems random. If I let it go for a couple of starts, it can end up as high as 74 or as low as 68. I've learned to keep my eye on it and just click it a notch or two when I start the car. It seems to stay set while the car is running and only shifts when I start it back up the next time. Weird.

Yep, doesn't hurt to save with the button, but supposed to be automatic for A/C, radio.

I have not noticed a degree or two alteration of settings per original poster, but I have experienced what you describe - A/C turns itself off after rapid acceleration, and needs to be re-engaged manually. It has happened dto me probably 6 or 10 times. It would not make me upset or worried EXCEPT that I don't know what is causing it, i.e. if it is an intermittent electrical connection somewhere, then when is it going to get worse or fail completely... if it is just a software glitch, then it is an odd one.

In the old days, the compressor clutch would drop out on some cars based on low manifold vacuum so that you had the extra horspepower for passing, but when you got off the gas, it would re-engage. Wonder if it is trying to do something similar, but not getting it quite right...

Good guess except for two things: First, I never "adjust" the radio as I don't play it. Yesterday I played one MP3 CD for the entire trip and it never played the same song twice. Second, I don't have 9 inch wide fingertips!

mikeyC6; Try putting a piece of blue painters masking tape over the drivers temp ****, it stopped the temp setting from changing on my car. I feel that was proof enough that I was moving the ****. With the **** being kept from rotating by the tape the temp setting did not change.

Sounds like a winner. I'm thinking that would look pretty stylish too. Seriously, I already determined without any doubt that it isn't me touching the ***** as it changed on its own by me pressing the off button and then back on again. Maybe the vibration of just the car starting up is jiggling the **** a bit, but it isn't me touching them that causes it.

During your experimentation, try leaving the A/C turned on when you turn off the engine. Then you won't have to touch the **** to turn it back on the next time you start the car. See if that fixes your problem. I've never had the problem and I don't ever turn mine off.
