Default Tailgating jerk

This weekend I was out driving with the roof off on a local road in PA with a posted speed limit of 45mph. I was running an errand in the C6 doing about 55 mph on my way back home. At a certain point in my rear view mirror I see current model Passat came up from behind on a pretty straight stretch of road going easily 80 mph and must of braked hard as not to hit me to sit right on my butt. Ok no big deal I thought, I did not react by accelerating or braking, just kept driving at my pace. I know the road well and at a good point a few miles down the road I accelerated hard up to 70mph. My back door friend did not miss a beat and labored hard to stay on my butt. Well he must have missed the yellow sign that showed a turn to the right with a 25 mph recommended speed (its about 70 degrees). I did not slow and just as I approach the curve popped it into 3rd and set up for the curve taking it about 55mph very comfortably. As I straightened and accelerated I glanced in the rearview mirror to see my friend frantically fighting the front-end plow of his Passat as he unsuccessfully was trying to stay in his lane. Luckily for him no one was coming in the other direction. Never the less I did not see him again and I had a nice laugh. Any one else have a similar experience?

Yep! They all want to keep up and prove you wrong! As Clint Eastwood said in one of his movies, "A man's got to know his limitations"! There's your sign!

If you're in the left lane when that happens, be prepared to have a few hundred Forum members tear you a new a$$hole unless you obediently moved over for the jerk! Apparently, even boorish fools like that have the right-of-way over the left lane.

Its a local two lane road, meaning one lane for each direction and in the 50 mile stretch near me there is only two short passing sections.

Sounds like he's talking about a TWO lane road (one lane each way) and not a limited access highway with 2 or 3 lanes going in the same direction! Now unless he was going to pull OFF the road how was he going to let this guy pass him?

Have had this happen so many times on the bike I can't count.
Usually when a turn comes up I get the bike over enough to just about touch down a knee, take the turn quick, and then go WOT through a couple of gears. The episode is over never to see the tailgating punk again.
This is always way in the country on very rural roads. I wouldn't even think about doing this in the city.

Better yet, have you had this happen on the freeway and you move over to let them by and they just continue to tailgate in the next lane, switching lanes with you also?

Well, it's a funny story and I would have been tempted to do exactly the same thing....but I think in the end I would have just pulled off and let the guy go by. I don't want to preach or throw cold water, but what if there had been someone coming in the other lane and he had hit them head-on? Not only would the jerk have possibly been seriously hurt, but so would an innocent party. Not a good deal.

It would have been more dangrious to pull over as there were no places other than pulling into someones drive way. Wait if I did that and I was rear ended I guess it would have been my fault too for pulling off. Look that SOB is going to kill himself regardless of whether I was driving a vette or some one else was I did not play a part in his demise. Some people are just morons.

If it's a single lane road and someone is trying to pass me I normally accommodate them regardless of my speed. However, if I am already in the slow lane and I'm being tailgated then they can kiss my b***, the gloves come off.
