I sure can't tell you what to do for sure. But .... if it were me I'd ask all the questions about it. And make your decision base on the answers. I'd think with all the news about the tops that GM is working on it. If it still is a issue, you have a warranty that shoulld keep things working for you.
The difference between the 06 and the 07 as far as the tops are concerned are going to be the same.

........ Just make a deal for a trans top and you won't have to worry about it!
Since you have not completed the deal yet,you may want to let the dealer be aware of your concerns and tell him you will take the deal today if he throws in a glass top with the sale...it can't hurt to try

Just get the car!!!!! If you wait for the 07 there will be something else to worry about and then you can wait for the 08. A switch to the glass roof isn't a bad idea.
Not real worried about the painted top, but the delamination issue was one more factor that help push the decision for me to add the dual roof package to my order for my '07 coupe. Wanted it anyway, just helped to justify the option.
That's what the factory is guessing too. But if they haven't changed the design (and AFAIK they haven't), the problem probably isn't resolved.
I dont think it was a design problem, but a manufacturing problem. A critical step using adhesives was skipped, basically leaving the thing held together by two way tape that was only supposed to hold it together temporarily for the manufacturing process. Im guessing to keep it held tight while the adhesevives cured.
Going by memory here about what I read in this forum. Could be wrong.
At a minimum Im sure they have changed the adhesives.
