Default Removable top recall

My dealer called me today to tell me that I should bring in my '06 coupe for the recall on the roof. I know the problem, but he didn't know what the fix was for the top. Does anyone know if they are replacing the top, or using some patch for the problem. If this has already been asked, I'm sorry.

Thanks

Do a search... There are hundreds of posts on this. More than you will want to read. No offense intended. Just saves everyone from repeating themselves.

Again, I understand the problem. It was just yesterday that GM said that they were recalling all 05 and 06 coupes.

If you aren't experiencing any problems at this point in time I would just wait and see what hapens as we get closer to the March 2007 deadline because from what I hear the dealerships are getting the foam onto the painted top which results in GM having to get you another painted top and matching the paint comes to mind along with the risk of dealer messing up your second or third top again getting the foam on the paint.

Not true. Glue if no evidence of separation. If you have separation, they need to replace and paint the entire top.

I'm waiting for awhile but I'm surprised the dealer called. Maybe their drumming up business.

Plus figure there will be more recalls and maybe they will improve the remedy for this top problem so then you can bring the car in once to do all of the recalls and get a better fix on the top problem wishful thinking.

Specifically what vin numbers are effected?

Are the ones coming from the factory today "fixed?" Mine was built about a month ago.

It appears, according to the lastest NHTSA recall statement that the new panel is treated to the foam injection "fix". Is it really fixed?..... Only Time will tell. I asked that question to GM customer service.... waiting for an answer.
