Ok, so my 2005 C6 (July 05 with 7,500 miles) starts making creaking noises about two weeks ago. Last week I take it to my local Chevy Dealer and he says the roof is delaminating and he will order me a new one. It will take 2 weeks to get and then I have to have it painted.
I tell him I was planning to drive from So Cal to the Bay area for business this week. He says - "No problem, go ahead and do it". I think better of it and decide to fly.
On the way to the Airport, my car makes more and more noises, but nothing happens. I park. Fly to SF for 2 days and come back.
When I approach my car in the parking lot, the roof (after baking in the So Cal sun for 2 days) has blown off and is sitting in the bushes next to my car.
UN FRIGGIN BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I pick it up, put it in the back of the vette and drive home. GM had better give me a rental, as I have to go back to the airport on Monday and leave for another 3 days.
I'll betcha some idiot came by, saw it coming apart, ripped it off and threw it in the bushes. I just love people. Still is rediculous. Geez, I hope GM has figured this out before production of the '07's start.
Just goes to show ya. These cars want to be convertibles.
Did not want to against my C6's will so I went for a vert. Jokes aside GM gotta fix this problem pronto, as this is a serious security and safety issue for drivers following behind.
It will take longer than 2 weeks to get a new top. I have been waiting for an order confirmation now for 1.5 weeks on a new roof. Still no date. This is with a large corvette dealership in the bay area who states they have pull at GM. At least they gave me a rental for the whole time. If I wanted a vert I would have bought one.
Out of my last 3 GM cars,(97 SS annd a very late 05Corvette) two have required major time in the shop to fix problems. Maybe I should learn some day.

Did they keep your car while you waited for a new roof? They are giving me a car but want to keep mine. I would much rather it sit in my garage while I wait for the top.

I think you pissed your car off by leaving it in the airport parking lot instaed of taking it so she blew her lid!
Seriously, glad it didn't rain or get tampered with. Good luck on getting a quick replacement roof.
