06 vert, manual top,are the micro switches in the latches above windshield functional ? drove off yesterday with top up but not latched, had no reminder or indication of un latched top
From: Caught between the moon and New York City TX
There are sensors?
I have the manual top on my vert and I've never seen a warning about the top not being latched. In fact, I just went down to the parking garage and intentionally unlatched the top and started the car and put it in drive...and...not a warning to be seen anywhere. Don't think there is a message on the manual top.
Because the manual top is so simple and quick to use, sometimes you can get carried away and not pull down enough to seat the top properly, but you can immediately tell by feel if you've done that. It also makes sense to give the handle area a litle push upward after it's latched.
The locked or unlocked status of the top is obvious enough that no sensors/lights/buzzers/bells/whistles are needed.

The tactile feedback from twisting the latch handle on the manual top will tell you if you engaged the latches or not. For me, just the fear of driving off without the top firmly latched focuses my attention on the task at hand, for about 5 seconds.
