Default Brake question

Am I suposed to be able to push the brake pedal to the floor when the car is stopped?

The brake pedal in my car never felt very firm, but only recently while driving other cars did I notice how mushy my brakes are. When Im stopped I can push the pedal all the way down to the stop. It takes a bit of effort, but Im not putting all my weight on the pedal or anything.

Brakes still grab, but take a lot of travel to work, especially for harder stops.

This cant be normal?

It's not normal and could cause a problem. You need to get it to the dealer ASAP. They probaly just need to be blead.
Your profile says you are getting a C6 soon? Are you asking about a C6?

Ahh yes, I never updated my profile from when I actually got the car.

yes its about a C6.

Unfortunately this is just another drop in the bucket of problems I've been having with it.

Doesn't look from your avitar you've been overly pleased with your vette?

I wish I could say I've loved ever minute. The begining was nice. There were issues present from day one but I just put my right foot down & they kinda disapeared.

Then Febuary rolled around and the little things started creeping up, then the roof started its thing, then it flew off, and on and on and on.

Yeah I've got an open line with a GM customer service guy. We'll see what ends up happening.

Default mushier brake pedal

If youre not going all the way to the floor, perhaps you have tapered your pads. My brake pedal isn't acting quite how I remembered it when I first got the car, and my pads are badly tapered. I'm going to change out the pads right now, so send me a message if I forget to post my results .

How long have you had the car, and did this just start happening or gradully progress over time? First guess may be as simple as you have air in the lines and need to vacuum bleed the brakes and add new fluid. This should make them firmer. If not have someone check for leaks in the entire system. Are you noticing any puddles of fluid?

Also could be your master cylinder, which if failing will cause a soft pedal.

Lastly have your pads checked to make sure there is no uneven or tapered wear.

You dont happen to own a black Z06, DSOM C6 do you? If so Im your neighbor down the street with the LeMans Blue C6...

Even if not, I just got the car back from the dealer today & they told me "no problem found"

I think Im done with them, they've been absolutley useless the entire time I've dealt with them. It was Ed Morse Sawgrass.

Im going to suck it up & drive an extra 20 mins & go to Kelley chevrolet.

We'll see what they think.
