Use region 4 to find your destination and any waypoints, press "Guide" and forget it. It'll go back to your present location and show detail along the whole route.
Set the Nav to the region for your destination. From the Nav manual: Traveling Across Regions
If you plan to drive across many states, you may have to change the region selected to represent the
area you are traveling to. To do so, do one of the following:
1. Change the selected region in the search area when you get closer to the area you are traveling to. See
Enter Destination or,
2. Change the selected region in the search area when entering your destination and route settings. See
Enter Destination . For example, if you were traveling from Michigan to Florida, change the region
currently selected in the search area to Florida. Enter a destination in Florida under the ENTER
DESTINATION menu.
I recently drove mine for BG to California via Colorado. I only had to ****ch region to program in my home destination.
The system is smart enough to automatically switch to the region you are in as you drive.
I ended up with a bunch of icons on my nav screen that wouldn't go away, so I did the 'restore default settings' trick. That put me in the wrong region and it did not change back to my region after a day of local driving here.
You're gonna tell me the system is smart enough to tell the difference between a dumbs#!t reset and driving into a new region, right?
Be sure to set waypoints for the locations and routes, you may want to see and use along the way. Check the navigation route the system selects against a hard copy map. To follow major highways, the system may take you 15 miles out of your way.
It would be easier to do two trip plans. To do the whole trip would be more complex. Mistakes in the plan would be harder to spot and correct. I would do the St. Louis leg first. And when you are ready to leave St. Louis enter the leg to Colorado.
