Default Nav Problems

The Nav in my 05 C6 has been acting up. On a few occasions I forward through the menu and then when I go back to the main screen half of the touch screen buttons arent highlighted. Although you can see their shadow, they arent highlighted so you cant use them. Typically it is the top row of the first menu with the destination screen.

If I take out the DVD and replace it, the menu seems to work again.

Any ideas?

Always start with the simple/apparently obvious when troubleshooting so please don't take offense...

Are you moving when these buttons aren't available by any chance? Some things are locked out when the car is not in motion.

Next time you pop the DVD out see if it needs to be cleaned. If it does just use a soft cloth and go straight across the disc, do NOT go in circles.

see if you can isolate a specific time or situation when it's doing this. On my 05 I was on the interstate a couple weeks ago and could not enter a destination while I was driving. I stopped at an exit to use the bathroom, came back to the vette and all was well. Go figure.

The system is designed to not allow destination entry while driving.

When you are going over (I believe) 6mph the nav buttons are disabled except for already stored waypoints and emergency features. You will not be able to manually enter destinations or points of interest until you are stopped or under 6mph. Its a "safety" feature that GM put in to prevent people from trying to enter stuff and not looking at the road. If it does not work while the vehicle is completely stopped then you have some other kind of problem.

No offense taken. I have cleaned the disc. While there are some items that are locked out while the vehicle is moving, these arent. Like I said it is intermittent. While moving the buttons are there, I scroll through all the option to the end menu and then back out and they are gone. While still moving, the disc is removed and reinstalled and they reappear and are working.

Yep! I believe most Nav systems will allow limited access while driving.
