My '06 vert is coming June 23rd but the catch is that I ordered a car with polished rims and the dealer has told me AFTER inquiring about something else unrelated that there was a constraint on the rims and that I will have the standard ones. They also said they will swap them out from a USED '05 on the lot. They mentioned nothing about a price redux for this or anything else.
I am not keen on having used parts on my new car. I am thinking that even if the rims on the '05 are good. They probably wont be once they are tore down and re installed on the new car. Therefore, I am thinking since the rims are not costing the dealer anything why should I pay for them. If they put them on and dont charge me, then I would be happy providing they are in reaonable shape. I dont trust the dealer to order new rims. I think they will try to put the used ones on and say that they are new and any imperfections are "normal".
I have no problems waiting for an '07 BTW but the great interest rate is good only till the end of this month(at this dealer). I can get a good int rate on an '07 at another dealer.
Take the car with the standard rims, Have them reduce the price for the standard rims, then buy your own wheels. Most likely you can get good aftermarket rims cheaper then they cahge you for the polished rims

I would buy some replica Z06 wheels in chrome ($1000-$1200 depending on the source) and sell the stockers on Ebay( going price is about $400) , So for about $800 you will have nicer wheels for much less money. Alternatively, you could have the stock painted wheels chromed. DO NOT accept wheels that were used. They could be bent, out of round and are not new.
Drgp,
it seems that xcutter has the Z06 rims. Do they make z06 rims for the
C6? IOW, I dont think you can use Z06 rims and swap them over to a C6--right? If not any direction where to find Z06 rims that will fit the C6?
Any problem with aftermarket and air pressor sensors?

Thanks for your input everyone!
Yes, they make Z06 style wheels for the C6. Several of the forum vendors sell them. I got mine from Radical Wheels. You want 18 x 8.5, +56mm offset fronts and 19 x 10 +79mm offset rears. The pressure sensors fit on them with no problem.
what model are those? I like! Also any problems with the air pressure sensors installed on those rims?
They are Z06 replica wheels made for the C6 with the correct offset. Sensor works perfectly. I also have Brembo Crossed Drilled rotors with Hawk HPS pads that do not squeal like my stock ones did.

when I ordered mine I requested polished but I was told that gm was having trouble with their supplier or something like that, so I complained to them that this was what I wanted so what they did was order it with painted wheels then gave me a big price break and when the car finally arrived they used a wheel shop near the dealer and had the rims dipped. It cost me less than 1/2 the price. and they came out beautiful. 1 cool vet
