Keep searching the forum as there are hundreds of posts on this subject. I started posting the delamination issue over a year ago on my 05.

I'm confident GM will resolve for all of us but the question is how long will it take, 6 months, 1 year, and that's the real issue.

Heck maybe they need to use the clear top as a base and apply a coating or paint to create a new solid roof, as these tops do not seem to have the delaminating issue like the existing solid tops.

Stay safe and hope you do not have to experience it
Thank you. All I can do is hope for the best! Will be really watching for signs especially since i'm in southern Cal where it gets pretty warm.

I hope GM doesn't see this. It could be the fix their looking for.

I am going to see if they have a glass top they could loan me while they wait for mine to come in.
and yet some on here will say that we are being negative by exchanging information!

Drop off your top to the dealer.
Take the car home.
Drive it on sunny days until the top is done or buy a glass top

Yep 113 dry heat in Phoenix and I've been driving the C6 and parking it in the sun on many days since it was built (Aug 05).

But the problem is...so far the top has consistently refused to make any of those creaky noises or delaminate. I just don't understand it. Reading about everybody's experiences tells me the roof should have blown off by now.

Hey in Havasu it doesn't cool down to 113 'til after supper!

If you look at our forum data:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1410987

You can see that you are most likely NOT going to delaminate, if that's the word. Only the last 5000 VIN#'s of '05 have as bad as a 50-50 chance.
If you're not in this VIN range, then it's about a 12% chance...

While interesting, 276 responses is not very conclusive when you consider the number of C6's that have been manufactured.

Had mine fixed a month ago. Took it in in morning, got it back in afternoon including oil change. No problems sense then

But look at what the data DOES say:

All VIN ranges of both years are affected!
You need NO more data points to show that, and it's probably the most important bit of information there.

"GM has no answer and it will be at least late July or early August till enough supply is back in the channel to fill the requests for the thousands that are on order nation wide"

It was also the first time the Chevy rep indicated they are trying to get closure but they have larger issues on their hands like the UAW issues (strike, buyout) and I'm fearful it will go into winter or next year.

For now I'm thankful I purchased the dual roof package or I would be absolutely losing my mind. While admittingly hot, at least its safe.
I knew it there was going to be a shortage of tops because of the demand and or type of fix they are doing.

I was lucky with my top. I was at the dealership Sandy Sansing here in P-Cola and the service manager came up looked at my car and said you need to peplace your top and recommended that I don"t drive it. So I took his advise. They took my car too the body shop, bought it back ordered my top came in about 2 weeks. While I was there they ordered my differential parts. Bought car in on a Monday back out on Friday... So far everything works great... If anyone lives close by, this is one dealership that I would highly recommend. Great service ask for Shawn he will def. take care of you...

i would tell them to suck my *** if they think they're keeping my car for 3 weeks.

if my top delaminates, i'm going to every dealer in the area until i find one that will just give me a transparent top.

I can take my car home but they won't let me have the loaner then. I can't afford just to work on sunny days especially since sunny days are the days I play hooky from work!

Good news is they said this "may" be resolved early next week. This sucks.

i could never leave a vette at the dealer, and if they insisted, id make sure their service manager was with me as i video taped the entire exterior and interior, and would make darn sure any scratches etc would cost them.

i cant leave any of my cars at a dealership, why?

i worked at one, i know what some of those guys do even when the cameras are on them.

Took nearly a month to get the replacement top for mine. They didn't even try to fix it. It's now in the shop to get painted. I drove the car topless for the month. That was a lot of fun on 40 degree mornings.

Has anyone gotten the line that they can't supply a rental car until the car has been in the shop for 24hrs? They expect me to go back to the shop the next day to pick it up.

Just a matter of time until someone directly or indirectly gets killed by a flying piece of plastic.

My Dealer allow me to take car home (after argument) and keep the loaner. I am coming up on 1 month at their expense.
