Default Headlight cover cracking

While putting the 13th coat of Zaino in my DSOM C6 today it came to my attention that the Right front clear headlight cover was developing a crack in it. There are no signs that anything has hit the headlight and it has been waxed with Rejex numerous times. Yea Zaino on the body....Rejex front and rear. Has anyone heard of these cracks developing?

I've heard that these headlights are prone to easy breakage from road debris, stones etc. Defintely take it into the dealership ASAP.

Wow...I thought they were made out of Lexan polycarbonate...that should make them about indestructible.

Greengo, your experience makes me wonder about applying Rejex to the clear plastic light covers. If there is no evidence of the plastic being struck by debris, I would suspect the chemicals in Rejex are reacting with the plastic.

I tried to use some clear plastic water filters in a parts washing machine once...the cleaning fluid (trichoropercolate or whatever you call that now outlawed cleaning fluid ) cracked those clear plastic shells like crazy after about a month.

These were not light duty Home Depot filters...I bought them from an industrial supplier and they were rated at about 100 psi. Those thick plastic shells looked like tempered glass that's been struck hard.

JJFlash,
I've been using REJEX on my C6 headlights from day one. Not a mark on them. I use it on my Toyota truck and on my wife's Acura headlights - it doesn't damage them at all. The covers all look perfect - and nothing sticks to them.

I'm glad to hear it...a lot of owners have probably put it on their headlight covers. I have only used it on my polished wheels.

I just suggested this as a possibility to be investigated if no other evidence is found. The effect of that cleaning fluid on those clear plastic housings dumbfounded me. Rejex was originally developed to keep USAF jets' exhaust soot from sticking to the aluminum skin...I presume the distributor has tested it extensively for adverse effects before selling it as car polish.
