Default Z06 Grill

I have not seen a Z06 side by side with a C6. Does anyone know if the Z06 grill will fit a C6. I like that grill much better then the "teeth" of the C6. Thought it might be an interesting mod. If it doesn't fit maybe a good idea for new product? Already have racemesh type screen but just really like that z06 grill.

I was looking at a C6 and C6Z06 side-by-side and the opening for the grille on the Z06 is definitely larger so I wouldn't expect that the grille insert would fit.

The OEM ZO6 grille will not fit the C6 bumper, but I wish somebody would make an after market look-alike ZO6 grille that would fit the C6. It would look cool.

Someone on here DID do it. Evidently it required a little bit of modification but wasnt all that difficult to do. Hopefully whoever it was will see this post and chime in... (Personally, I like that grill (Z06) better than anything Ive seen yet...)

I checked my PM's and was able to find the guy that did this. I had emailed him at the time and this was his response:

"if you can pull the old you can install the new. it is bigger but it is stil the same size as the stock c6 grill. the diffrence is the z has a bigger opening to show more of the grill, so i did not cut anything. i used the drimel tool to grind at a couple of the bars on the grill so it would set flush with the stock c6 bumper but it not necessary"

So, it sounds like a very "do-able" mod to me...

Unfortunately, you now know what I know. At the time when I asked, there was no additional info or pics. But he indicated it wasnt overlydifficult. I've been wanting to do this mod for awhile now...WHERE's the best place to buy the grill?! Lets do it!

I'm thinking Fitchner, Fred Beans, or GM Parts Direct. I sent Black05C6Z51 a PM to get the particulars on his install. Man, I can't wait.

He is the one I referred to above. I didnt want to give his name out without getting his permission first. His picture sure looks great!! My question is, do you suppose he meant "grill" instead of "drill"?

He did mean "grill"

The Z06 is two pieces, a frame and a grill insert.
The C6 is one piece.
The Z06 frame attaches to the fascia extension with four push pins (two per side) and also to the lower body grill opening with four screws.
The one piece stock C6 grill attaches in a similar manner.
These fastening points are required to keep everything in line as most parts in this area are flexible.

Give yourself a few hours to attempt the install.
You'll have to jack the car up, remove the side spoiler pieces, the corner brake cooling intake covers, loosen the lower body section, then work from the back, accessing through the sides and bottom to remove the stock grille. You may want to remove the fascia extension and open it up like the Halltech CAI at this time.

I went through the exercise two weeks ago, but wasn't satisfied with the finished result.
Looks better then the stock C6 grill, but still looks cheap.
Ended up ordering a Mercado grill, which will be my fourth grill mod (stock, modified stock, billet, and hopefully last-Mercado)

That's it.....replacement part, only about $40.00 for the two pieces.
Nice design, but extremely flimsy !!!

it not flimsy at all. i took the whole front end off the car to do the install. i mounted the ring to the actual grill. then it goes on just like stock. the 4 screws along the bottom are what really holds it to the car...just like the stock. it is absolutly no diffrent the stock if done right....which with out pulling the bumper i am not sure can be done. to me this a a very subtle mod that worked out really good and looks way better then anyother option out there. as for where i bought the parts....fred beans..... i think they should be paying me at this point all the refferals i have given them but they rule. i think it was 35 for both parts. when you look at the same pics witht he 2 diffrent grills it becomes real easy to see which looks better. there is a post in here somewhere with both pics....figured i would just post the info here as i got 4 pm's wanting the info so i just put it here...sorry to those i didn't reply to but if u got specific ?'s feel free
