I wanted to a get clear top for my C6 coupe and called my local dealer to get one, but they did not have one and said that they were on BO. I then looked on Fred Beans website and not only did they have it, but it was several hundered dollars less.
But that's not the good part. I call Fed Beans and told Gene that I would like to get it by Friday so I could use it on my trip to the USGP at Indy this weekend. Gene said that he would really like that to happen, but I called to late in the day. Well, Gene got it done and my roof showed up today.
Based upon everything I have been reading, I did not want to drive from Detroit to Indy and worry about my roof coming "unglued". Not only great pricing, but also great service. guess that is why I keep going back to them when I need\want Corvette parts.

Think about it...in your career, were/are you ever in the position of having to get a lot of details completed before a unmoveable and un-missable deadline?
Well, it often happened to me...bid spec packages, design deadlines, data processing deadlines, UPS schedule...and I remember the stress of trying to meet the deadline. Sometimes, you'd just like say Manana, and walk away.
Gene probably felt that same stress, but he got'er done for you...and he didn't expect anything for it but doing his job and helping another customer. I think I would call him the next time I needed parts. (This IS NOT A Paid Endorsement. )

Like they say, there are doers and there are talkers, Gene is doer...
I also ordered my Trans top from Fred Beans. Gene was very helpful. I ordered my top in the evening. Next day top was shipped and arrived in San Francisco 7 days later. Top is $ $1240.00 that includes the shipping costs. Right Gene?
My local dealer wants $1700 (year, right!) "including labor".
My question is, what the heck labor is involved??? I would think it would fit right in just like the painted top and wouldn't think you'd need to install any hardware to make it work.
Thoughts....
Sorry for the thread hi-jack! I'm envious, spent all my top money on PC parts and a new car for the wife....

$1175 + $65.00 for shipping at Fred Beans. The Top comes complete with all hardware ready to install. The labor involved is taking the painted top off the car and installing the transparent top.

To give the dealer *some* credit, apparently there was a version of top (maybe C5?) that when ordered was more of a 'spare part' than an 'accessory' and so pieces, including weatherstriping, were not included and had to either be moved from the donor roof, or else purchased seperately and then it all had to be put together.
The initial parts guy at Bachrodt clearly thought this was the case for my roof, but fortunately for me, the guy I actually ordered from knew better, opened the box, and showed me that I was good to go just as shipped. They do claim some adjustment may be needed, but there are no instructions in the box, and mine was perfecto just as it came from the box.
Gene and the crew there are excellent. I've also purchased parts for my Suburban and Yukon XL at discounted prices. I think they just picked up Nissan and Saturn to add to their GMC and Pontiac lines. It's great to have them right next door! I walked in, got a door reflector for my Suburban, front air dam and touch up paint for the C6, and left with coin in my pocket.

I called Friday and that's the price Gene quoted me. Great price. I've had my Black Sheep for 20 months in Hotlanta and no problems with the top, just this week I drove it Wed, Thur and Fri temps in parking lot 105 and still no problems but I am still going to get a Transparent top for the cooler months.

:
I am sure for 85 bucks an hour they must unlatch and take painted one off, put in cargo area, open box to transpart roof, lift out of box, place top on car and re-latch. Thats a good 3 hour job right there. If amount is too high, fight for free oil change next time you are in.

$85 an hour is a deal! It is a $100 in Detroit, but a job like this would only take two hours instead of three.
