When I bought my 06 back in December, it was delivered to me with just one FOB and one key. I finally got the dealer to give me an additional FOB and I've tried training it using the instructions in the owner's manual. After turning the key 5 times in 5 seconds as stated in the manual, the car is supposed to go into FOB training mode. Mine does nothing. Any advice on how to get this second FOB trained would be appreciated.
This most likely isn't the magic bullet you seek, but when I bought a 3rd FOD I tried at least 5 times to program the dam thing w/o success. So I threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. My wife found it and asked what it was and when I was going to program it. So being the smart *** I am I took her out to the garage to show her that even following the instructions I can't program it.
This time it worked. I do recall I had one FOB in my pocket when I entered the car, then set the 3rd FOB on the consol, then I got out of the car with the FOB still in my pocket to go to the rear of the car to do the 5 turn thingie. I believe that BOTH FOB's must stay in the vehicle during programing.

Let me know if this helps.

2006 Owner's manual, page 2-6:
To match a new transmitter to your vehicle when
you have a recognized transmitter (two recognized
transmitters are required for Canadian owners),
do the following:
1. The vehicle must be off.
2. Have the recognized and new, unrecognized
transmitters on your person.
I think I've tried all combinations, both FOBs in my pocket, both in the car with the girl friend, one in the car - one in pocket (both combinations). I've tried everything, including RTFM, except waving a dead chicken over the car while reciting an incantation. Nothing seems to get it into learn mode. As bad as I hate to, I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer. Sometimes I long for the old fashioned key in the cylinder system.
Make sure you are turning the key as far as it will go.
We have a winner. As it turns out, I was not turning the key all the way. I noticed yesterday that the key was hard to turn so this morning I sprayed a little WD-40 in the key hole which made it much easier to turn. I then tried the "turn the key 5 times" to enter FOB training mode and it worked like a charm. As usual, the forum comes through.
Congrats. I do recall how tight the lock was and that could have conspired against me. I have no way of knowing what prevented me from programming my FOB, but perseverance paid off.

Almost sound like .......................
"Have the recognized and new, unrecognized
transmitters on your person." This must be one of those bonding thing we read about or, a same sex relationship between the fobs.
