hi all, my vette plays mp3's just fine but some songs are missing, could it
be the cd's i am using which is sony? or something is wrong with my navigation unit? when i download 50 songs around like 4 or 5 songs are missing
All my songs are there, but mine skips some, and sometimes switches to the next song in the middle of one playing. They play fine on my aftermarket deck in my other car, on my computer and on my home dvd player. Ive tried every brand cd I could find, different burners, programs, etc. Nothing helps. It only does it with MP3s. If I make a regular music cd with the same media and programs, they work fine. It something I guess I will have to live with, I dont trust the dealer to replace the radio.
I haven't experienced this problem I use roxio to burn my mp3's and I have made disc with as many as 96 songs on them. Don't know what the problem can be.
there have been some other posts about this topic ...I'm not sure if any conclusions were reached ... I have this occasionally on a couple of mine but it hasn't been enough of an issue for me to take the time to do more elaborate testing on media types or burning software effects on this - others may have some leads ... I think it does have to do with a combo of the software to burn and the media and not a prob with the radio itself.

I use the same software and all the 112 songs are there...
Did you use iTunes to burn the CD? If so, be sure that none of the track data (song title, artist, album name) is longer than 22 characters. Any track with more characters will not be recognized by the C6s hardware.
Craig-
Do you use VBR (variable bit rate) when you rip the mp3s? I had the same problem and then used a constant bit rate and now no skipping to the next song in the middle of a song. Hope it helps.
How do you get that many songs on a CD? I could use a tutorial.
I just kept adding until the CD was full. I used the highest compression and my wife say the sound quality is not as good as the regular CDs, but I can't tell the difference. But then again, the sound has to be really bad for me to notice.
From: Austin, Texas Codes 660, 9448, and 295660 work in the C6 navigation unit. No DVD playback yet.

The more you compress them the more will fit on a CD. They'll also sound worse and worse the more you compress them.
192 is usually considered the lowest bitrate that will maintain CD quality.
160 is often considered acceptable, and 128 is about the limit when most people start to notice. Below about 112 and it's pretty obvious the quality has been compromised.

Dude, that rocks.. I can only get 17-20 songs a cd.. sucks to be me I guess.

You are probably burning them in a standard audio format and not mp3. If you don't have it, you can get itunes for FREE and it works great for burning mp3's. It takes a little getting use to and you will probably have to use the help tab quite a bit when first starting out, but once you get the hang of it, it's awesome.

This is how I got so many on a disc. My wife can tell the difference, but I can't. However, I can tell the difference between a MagnaFlow and a BB Exhaust and she can't!
I tested Verbatim, Memorex, CompUSA, and Sony blank CD-Rs. I found the Sony to be the most resistent to skipping. Other brands would skip after a week or so of playing. Several months have passed and the Sonys haven't skipped. YMMV. Thanks.
For MP3 cd's I use Sony CDR-Music CD's. If I use regular CD's small bumps will make them skip. Be sure to burn your disc in 2X or 1X mode.
I have found that burning the disc in faster modes will cause more problems.
The Sony Music discs are made a little different than the data CDs.
