anyone have an alarm system on your car? Last night two of my cars that were sitting in my driveway were unlocked (Stupid I know) and someone decided to go through the vehicles. Luckily nothing of real value was taken. So it got me to thinking about maybe having an alarm installed on the vette when I get it.
The factory system that comes with the Vette is very good. Not only can you not start the car, you can't even open it unless your FOB is withing a few feet of the door. Of course, no system is going to help you if you leave the car unlocked!

Happened to me as well. I'm use to parking my truck in the garage, and so I didn't lock it all the time. Since the Vette is in the garage now, the truck is in the driveway. Needless to say, left the door unlocked and someone went through my truck one night. Saw a sign at a restraunt that said "don't for get to lock your doors," thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to post one at my house.
are there any alarms that can integrate with the C6's factory system? Id like to add a motion sensor so with the top off it would set off an alarm, not to mention the glass breaking sensor and shock sensor.
But I refuse to give up the fob or add to my keychain.
Alarm systems can cause more trouble than they are worth. You have insurance, don't you? You'll probably not forget to lock it again.
Also, don't program your garage door opener in your visor and park outside.....easy way into the garage. I never leave garage door openers in anything that is parked outside, locked or not.

Excellent advice. A few years back, cars were being stolen and by using the registration to find the address, the thieves were robbing houses by driving right into the garage.
In Louisiana the following companies provide more than adequate vehicle protection:
1. Sig
2. H & K
3. Glock
4. Colt
5. Smith & Wesson
to be more specific 12 ga., .357 mag., 9mm, .45, .38, .32, .25 .22, .223 and more take your pick. Don't know much about the .40 cal. just that alot of PD's are using them now sort of like the 9mm craze of the 80's when the army got the Baretta contract and retired the good old .45

Don't leave anything with your address on it or your garage door opener. You just want to lessen your chances of them showing up at your house. Keep the registration in a special place in car. But if you ever get stopped by LEO just warn him that you are getting your reg very slowly because of the above reasons.

Careful as this C-6 is very complex so you need someone that knows how to install an alram on a Corvette. Otherwise you could create more problems that you didn't have before.
You can also get those proximaty warning devices so if a person is hanging around your car it will sound out a voice or horn. Motion sensors, glass detection breakage, seat sensors etc.
I think if I were to get one I would go with the top of the line Clifford but it has been years so I'm sure there technology got even better. I hear that the alarm that comes on the Shelby GT-500 from the factory has everything pretty much covered as far as an alarm system goes.

Guys, guys, guys. 30.06 or at least .308! :lol
I do wish someone would build a reliable remote start for the C6. I have them on my 300C and F-250 and have grown quite fond of them. 2 different systems and zero problems. Not expecting it anytime soon though...
Heres the move:
I had my dealer bring in an alarm guy who is experienced on the C6. This is what he told me.
"No need to screw with any onboard computers.
Im gonna install a shock sensor you want, so if any one smashes the windows or bangs into it with a door
it will trigger the factory interior lights. It will fool the Factory alarm making it think the doors are open,
triggering the alarm."
I also had him pull the red LED'S in the doors & install much briter blue LED'S
Plus one that stays on, right on top of the dash when the car is shut down as a deterrent.
Any deterrent is a good one if it makes a kid to think twice.
I also found a small red led strobe clip that I clipped to the passenger side sun visor
& set it only at night if Im at a restaurant.
