Default 2005 C6 Paint Code Placement in car

After researching a bit ill get to later why this is actually stressing me out a bit....I have heard my car now called
Monty Red (Sticker on car when bought)
Jewel Red (2005 sold Number car breakdown of color)
Red Tint Tri-coat (Corvette Auto Paint Conversion Chart, which doenst have Mag Red OR Jewel Red Or Monty Red just a slash through the end with 2 numbers)

Why this bothers me, the dealer painted my cars top Pink/Purple...ok they are redoing it. but they gave the paint shop the *paint code* in my VIN it comes up Jewel Red and the body shop says that is what it looks like.

I have been looking for the Paint Code # on the car and found a parts something indentication sticker on it...with the dealer on the phone he said it is a (UA) something code at the bottom...no where on the entire sticker is there a UA at all.

Then he said look over by your spare tire....there should be another sticker

Spare tire???? I paused and finally said there is no spare tire. He had to go to another serviceman to varify this.

I told him that on my buying sticker Monty Red is listed as my paint option with the 750 prem increase. Monty Red like the 2006

He said but you have a 2005

I have a Z51 Coupe (fully loaded HUD etc etc package) Nav and XM automatic 2005 Vette. By chance is there someone with a Monty Red 2005???? i think 1.9 % at the end of the year (mine was built in July 2005) are monty red. And where would i find the Paint Code at plz (not the vin # because everytime he tells them that is comes back pink/purple.)

Thanks for your help

According to the Corvette Black Book, there were 717 2005 Monterey Red C6s made. The paint code should be 80U. 358 of those were coupes. Should be a paint code of 80U on a sticker in the glove box with other codes for your other options.

A DuPont dealer can probably figure out the actual code from the MY and VIN number, but it will be better if you read it off the glove box label. Red Jewel Tintcoat is the DuPont name for the paint. At the BG plant, you will see Red Jewel used more often than Monterey Red.

On my early 2006 (September 2005), the paint code for Monterey Red is U301N...I expect it's the same for the late 2005s, but I would confirm the code for your car. Look at the installed equipment label on the glove box door; at the bottom of the code listing, the paint code and interior color should be close together.

WA-301N is the touch-up paint code for Monterey Red. Someone listed those codes here, along with the GM code a few months ago. I'm a little bit of a packrat when comes to info. posted here that I can save and that I think might come in handy next week or next month.

He should get the code off his glove box label...whatever others may think the code is, his car was actually painted with the paint code on the glove box label.

WOW thanks, between everyones post here you just hit the nail on the head.

That was what the parts manager was asking for...(WA-301N) as he said it was a WA number with a code after it. This does not appear anywhere on the sticker in the glove box.

I would take a pic of the whole sticker but my camra is at work atm.

Instead of the WA-301N (JmpnJckFlsh) I have that exact code in the last line....U 301N I told it to him, he didnt want to hear it as it was not a WA....I am calling back to him tomarrow....

bocabob Yes he was stunned when i said i didnt have a spare...this was the parts manager too....I over heard him talk to a fellow worker to verify that it doesnt. He even told me to look under the carpet in the trunk

Jabez i am not sure...they might of used something in my VIN??? It took him awhile to even beleive me that my car was a Monty red as i read it straight off the buyers sticker (750 prem paint, color Monteray Red)

anthony2823 you need to run, not walk to another dealer. Your entire dealership has displayed a level of incompetence that is almost unbelievable. Fortunately, my local dealership is much more competent with Corvettes.

I will, Been over there myself and it was an experince. Ill keep him in my prayers. I am sure he is going over with great men.

**anthony2823 you need to run, not walk to another dealer.** Sadly the nearest dented my other car, 25 miles away, and this one is 75ish miles. I had a great dealer in down town Palm Springs but they moved and are not up and running yet. I cant wait for them to come back online.

Bocabob...one of the things that makes my heart flutter is when i see all the blankets of family and friends with messages for units comming home. It is a great feeling to see them arrive safe.

I thought it almost had to be the same as my early 2006, but the best way is to confirm it off the label...they could have made minor mix changes based on experience with the late 2005s.

Zymurgy is right...you may have the dumbest Chevy dealership in the country. And, the service manager...he is an ignorant, close-minded, obstinate jackazz! (Not unique...seen his ilk before.)

WA or U may not be critical to the code...You see it both ways. Some say the letter prefix identifies the DuPont plant that made the paint, but I'm not convinced. I have wondered if the WA and the U may not identify the paint system, like "U" for urethane.

Anyway, the color part of the code is 301N, Red Jewel Tintcoat...any DuPont paint store will be able to look up 301N on DuPont's online computer system, and should be able to mix the color for you. I bought a quart of the base coat, and a quart of the tint coat in Chromabase, which is their premium paint system...that's what I would use on a new Corvette.

I salute you for your service to your country. Oorah!
