Default clutch question

I have a question about clutch take-up. When you are in stop and go traffic, for instance, and you slowly let up on the clutch without touching the gas, does your car shudder until the clutch is fully engaged, or move smoothly?

That only happens a little to me if I'm in 2nd gear.

If I let up on the clutch without giving it gas the car will shudder and then stall. You have to use the gas pedal.

Then I would get that looked at.

My 2006 does not shudder (the OPs question) and certainly does not stall when the clutch is released on level ground (or even slight uphill, such as a flyover) and NO throttle is given. The engine management system and e-throttle simply keeps the RPMs right at 600, and it motors along nicely.

Mine will stall if not given throttle when letting up on the clutch...I've never driven a manual that doesn't stall when not getting on the throttle when letting the clutch out.

Sorry, guys, I misunderstood the original poster slightly. He said fully released in stop and go traffic, so let me be clear about what I was thinking:

1) I have never tried to start out from a standing stop with NO gas and feathering the clutch. I imagine it might well either shudder and/or stall, as people have offered.

2) What I mean is that I spend at least 20 minutes of my two hour road trip every day in stop-n-go traffic, and in that stop-n-go traffic, I often have to slow down, speed up, slow down, all the way to a snails pace and that as long as I am moving, there is no need to give any gas at all, and no shudder either, with clutch fully out, even at walking speed, and even while climbing the flyover ramp as well.

Of course, when I do need to operate the clutch, yes, I give it a bit of gas, but never get any sort of shudder whatsoever. Sorry for any misunderstanding/misstatement, hope that clears it up.

(Of course, with our low end torque, you know what I am going to do the very next time I am in the car and it is at operating temp: I am going to try to finesse the clutch to see if I can indeed get it to start out without a stall or shudder - not that I would do that test repeatedly...)

Mine does shudder when I use the above method when starting out. Both in 1st gear and reverse. 7,000 miles on the car and it has done that since new.

OK. This is exactly what I was talking about. I wasn't sure if there was something wrong with mine or not, and wanted to see if others had the same experience.

When I took delivery the salesman was going over all the features of the C6. He said to let the clutch out slowly, no gas and the car would start moving smoothly. That's exactly what it did from day 1 and still does now 10,000 miles later. I love this car.

Mine shudders trying to go 1 mph (or less) such as easing into my garage. The car will move without stalling by easing out the clutch at idle speed but it shudders. It doesn't seem to shudder in everyday driving although the engagement is kind of touchy. Pretty nearly every car and truck I've ever driven was better than the C6 at having a predictable and easy to modulate engagement point. For example it would be hard to hold the C6 stationary on a small incline using the clutch, not that I would ever do that anyway. The over-center spring probably plays a role in this.
