My 2005-MN6 is making a buzzing sound which seems to come from behind the instrument panel although I suppose it could be coming from the engine. It happens in second or third gear as I approach 3,000 RPM and continues until I back the RPM off. I have never heard the sound when driving in any other gear. I only use premium gasoline in my car. To make matters worse, sometimes it will not make the noise at all. Sunday morning, I drove about a mile to the store without any buzzing sound. But, on the drive home it was there. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I would prefer to have a better idea of what this is before asking the dealer to search for it. Thanks in advance.
Gosh, can't help you there. But your'e right when you say you want to have a better idea before going to the dealer otherwise you'll get their stuipid patenet answer "could not duplicate" .....or "no problem foiund" !!!

Try putting your hand on the shifter to see if that dampens the noise. My shifter rattles, or buzzes, slightly as I accelerate, but it's not bad enough to bother me right now.

just to clarify, i had a noise come from what it seemed like behine the heat/hvac vents. Sometimes it would buzz, other times it was quiet. I brought it in to the dealer and they fixed it. It was a loose screw. hopefully this helps. good luck
I don't believe there is a cable as such on these cars? It's all electronic now but I could be wrong. I'm sure someone will answer this one....
You're right Husker. These are drive by wire cars. The throttle body does not have a cable on it. It's an electric signal sent from the pedal to the ECM to the throttle body and back again to the speedometer and instrument cluster.
If it is gear and RPM specific this is probably not it but, to be sure, the lower windshield trim piece sometimes buzzes with speed/wind. To eliminate as a potential source, put a piece of black electrical tape on the edge and tape it to the glass.
Good luck.
