Took my car in for the 1st service. Dealer changed oil and the DIC still says 33% oil life. Did they forget to reset it and do i have to take it all the way back to correct it?

Nope. I believe all you need to do is press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds when the oil life percentage is showing. If that does not work, see the manual - it's in there...

Hope this helps.

Just push the reset button while looking at the oil life.

This is correct. I just did my first oil change & reset the oil life on it.

i wouldn't take weseloh to a dog fight! They are the worst. And only live 1 mile away from them. I bought it at Selman in Orange and actually it was a freebie from there. Do you think they pulled a fast one on me? How could itell? I can't do it myself. That's not an option for me. I hate dealerships.

You should be able to tell pretty easily by the color of the oil on your dipstick if it has been changed. If you really had 33% remaining it would be pretty dark. My oil was black after 1400 miles when I did my first change. Fresh oil is golden yellow. The filter you can take a visual look under the car to see if the outside looks new & shiny blue AC Delco color - may be hard to tell if a filter has been changed though. I would assume if the oil is fresh that they did the filter too, and not worry about it.

I also took my car in to the dealer today to have the oil changed and they reset the oil life remaining, it reads at 99% now. I was pretty happy about that but not so thrilled by how long it took, the oil change part itself was quick (maybe half an hour) but it took them almost an hour to process the paperwork and tell me I owed them sixty-five bucks for Mobil 1 plus labor.

Also I was momentarily scared when reading the invoice which said the service included installing a sticker on the car, but I went all around the car and couldn't find any dealer sticker so thankfully they didn't actually do this...

Oil change at my dealer's is $65 including the oil, labor, filter, and all.

They usually put the sticker in the upper left corner of your windshield (as you're sitting in the driver's seat looking out). The amount of time to process your paperwork sux. I guess small town dealers do have some advantages.

My dealer forgot to reset it for me too. When I asked "how can I reset it myself" ? They said it's a bot complicated , you need to bring it in. What a bunch of MORONS. All you do is hold the reset button.

I was one of those folks who always changed his own oil. I stopped doing it about 10 years ago when it involved cars that were 'transportation'. The day after I got the vette, I realized 2 things:

- I could not stand the thought of someone doing something on the car I could do myself and my worrying about them getting it all covered with greasy handprints, scratches, etc. I imagined them pressing that "Reset" button without first washing their hands...

- Some of the best memories I have in my life are the times I spent working on the car with my dad. My son has not had that chance yet.

I ordered Race Ramps the next day and stocked-up on oil and filters. It's something I actually look forward to...

OK, I found the GM Goodwrench sticker, it was exactly in the spot where you said it would be. But it seems somewhat redundant since the car tells me when to bring it in for the next oil change.

I appreciate the fact they top off all the fluids and check the tire pressure, etc. but after they added a few PSIs now the car is bouncing all around the bumpy roads again. Maybe I will let some air out of the tires...
