This may be a taboo subject but if so I suppose the forum gurus will kick it out. I notice that there is a huge difference in pricing between Canada and the U.S. I have heard that a U.S. dealer cannot sell to a Canadian. But, I have been told that there are dealers who will sell to a third party for 15 minutes who will then sell it to a Canadian. Can anyone put me onto such a dealer?
Cant answer your USA /CANNADA question...but suggest you call Tommy Jr At MaMulkin Chevrolet........he gave me $4500 off MSRP On an ordered 2007 Conv, that was built June 27th...he is located in Nashua NH not far from Cannanda ........a phone call cant hurt.the Dog
Just buy the car in the US & pay cash or Cashiers certified check, Take immediate delivery. All you need is a US address for registration purposes. Drive the car up to Canada; you'll have to declare it when you register it in Canada and pay the appropriate Provincial & GST taxes on the US purchase price, less any depreciation (not much). Does it pay when you have to pay all that sales tax on top of what you'll pay state side? It may...you have to run the numbers! Most of the figures depend on a good purchase price. Best of luck
I seem to rememeber something about the WARRANTY being an issue. If I remember correctly the car has to have over a certain amount of miles (like 15,000) or GM canada will not assume the warranty.
I don't know the details but I purchased my SRX from a private dealer in Ontario who had bought it at the GM auction. I had to have it certified as meeting Canadian HTSA standards and a sticker had to be put on the door. My warranty does not include "full maintenance" that other Canadian Caddy purchasers got.
comprehensive warranty, US or Canada dealers will service them. Pleople move all the time and their paid off cars go with them. They don't lose their warranty as long as they are legitimately registered. and legally purchased.

I agree... if a Canadian vehicle, registered in Canada travels to the USA and has a warranty problem it is fixed. No problem.
The problem is that you can NOT buy a new vehicle, register it in one country and then immediately take it over the border and register it in the other country and validate the warranty. No way... GM Canada will not cover the car for repairs in CANADA if it does not meet the USED criteria they have established.... months and kilometers
