Because of the fact that paperwork I have dug up listed it originally as a "Chevy Special Event Car (CVMS)". Couldn't figure out what else CVMS could stand for. Also, it was sold at a GM auction 8 months after it was built and it only had 200 miles on it. Finally, when the dealer purchased it it had several of the Corvette accessories (painted spoiler, door handles, etc) already installed.

CVMS is the Company Vehicle Management System. It is the database of Corporate vehicles and is maintained to track the lineage of a corporate vehicle. These are sometimes a mule, other times a display vehicle that will make the rounds to car shows and seminars, other times these are simply fleet cars that upper management will get to drive. First check your RPO codes for one that you can't identify such as a WD0, WD1 or WD2. Check your doors for NCM decals. Also, you would likely have a very low VIN number (the first 200) and lastly, as others have suggested, call Adam Boca at the NCM 1-800-53-VETTE.
For the C5, these Production Codes were as follows and I'd bet the C6 remained the same.
Production Code [RPOWDO] WDO
The PROCESSING OPTION CODE for a new C5 BUILT FOR THE NEXT MODEL YEAR FOR TESTING and EVALUATION purposes. A [WDO] C5 would be a C5 being built during the current model year run of C5's, But is a FUTURE Model Year Vehicle. This Option Code is known (at the FACTORY) as a "CONTAINMENT VEHICLE" CODE. Which is the "IDENTIFICATION" of the START OF A NEW PLATFORM (i.e. NEW MODEL YEAR C5).
Production Code [RPOWD1] WD1
The IDENTIFICATION CODE FOR A FACTORY PILOT VEHICLE. For the Next Model Year (example if the factory were building 1999's today and a "RPO WDO" & "RPO WD1" was going to be built if would be a 2000 Model and would have a 2000 VIN Plate attached to it. Of course this would be a EARLY MODEL 2000 C5, with a built date in the middle of the 1999 Production time line and a JOB # for the current 1999 C5 Model Production.
Production Code [RPOWD2]: WD2
The IDENTIFICATION CODE FOR A FACTORY PROTOTYPE, C5 Vehicle. All the information would be the same as above, EXCEPT this would be a 2001 C5. Usually all C5 Vehicles after this are called ALPHA Vehicles And BETA Vehicles meaning 3 (2002)& 4 (2003) model years away. In other words to the C5 ENGINEERS who are working on the 50th Anniversary C5 (it's SPECIAL Package will most likely be GOLD & BAD TO THE BONE...) to them it is currently known as a BETA Car.
